Here's the counter to the original post.
A few weeks ago I was in San Jose on business. While eating lunch at a Quizno's I spotted a brand new Ferrari 599 GTO parked outside a Bank of America office. After I finished eating I walked over to take a picture with my phone. The owner happens to come out and we start to chat. One thing leads to another and he asks me if I own a sports car. I tell him yes, a 944 Turbo and a 928S. His eyes get wide and starts telling me about how the 951 was his dream car growing up and that it's one of the few sports cars he's never owned. From there on all he wanted to talk about was my 951, question after question.

Being a 911 owner and a fan of the 928 - I feel comparing any porsche to a camaro is a insult, at least he could have said corvette. Which would have been less insulting.
But seriously, the 928 is the reason why the 996 / 997 / 991 evolution began from the old air cooled 911's. This guy cant call himself Mr. Porsche if he does not know the history and does not respect all Pcars as each one "even the 914" is special.

As much as I didn't want to add fuel to the fire, just last night I took my 928 out for a run and a "nice" 911 owner pulled out in his C4S convertable. Not even a F U from the dude, even when we were side by side driving at low speeds. I know not all 911 owners are that way but I see alomst 100% 911 owners signal one another on a daily basis.
This is the way I look at it, (by the way my bro had a pristine 02 C4S 6-speed), if I spent that much money and see no joke 100+ 911's every day I wouldnt enjoy driving my 928 as much as I do.
On performance I used to go with the local PCA drives back when they were a few hours instead of a few day's and i must say about 70-80% of the 911 drivers wouldnt even look let alone acknowledge my car, that just blew me away. I am a car guy I must say I appreciate most models from most makers but to see them snub off what I believe was the pinicle of Porsche blows me away. The drive up to Mirrow Lake is long and very twisty I had absolutely NO prob hanging in the twisties or the open road with none of them with cars that were 20+ years the newer. WITH NO MODS AT THE TIME
Just one last thing I unfortunately missed the whole Porsche Parade hear in SLC, but i drove down to the hotel and was totally impressed at how many 968's there were but my brother said only 1 928 showed up say it aint so.

the worst are those a$$hole 968 drivers... think they're special because they have the best p-car ever made... which is indisputable, i agree but c' mon have some decorum...

Three Wheelin'
Same with Supra owners... think they're special because they don't get traction until 3rd gear and are frightened by a race from a stop.

No we are not. Yes, They are getting better. Specially since the 996 IMO is the new 928 as far as DIY and a bargain porsche with a exotic car repair costs.
I am finding the 996 guys are a lot alike the 928 gents. However the 993 guys are a bit up tight.
But dont hold us all in the same crowd as "911" so many sub-models are out there.
Why cant we just all get along and stop comparing penises?

Well I guess the 911 guys here in Utah are of a "special" breed, the 993 guys are even worse even to other 911 drivers, damn water pumps, They dislike 996 and newer.
I will say again that this is not all just most here.

Suggest the thread title change maybe?
Were not sounding very well, as 928 owners with this as the topic..
Even if I agree that SOME people can be problematic.

One of the things I have noticed on several ocassions is that many of the current crop of new Porsche drivers do not know a 356, 911, 924, 944, or 928, from a banana... I have been driving 356's, a 550 Spyder (replica) as well as a 944, and 928's for a very long time...there are certainly some folks who are just not interested in anything other than their car and themselves, but some of the issue is the newer crop of Porsche owners are less likely to be interested in "old stuff". Need the 5000 watt stereo, need the in dash electronic system with wide screen display, IPOD connection, full video, cup holders, ride in luxury, complete comfort, in a PORSCHE SPORTS CAR. And recently I was overhearing a conversation about a fellows new high performance sports car...what was it? why it was a Panamera of course....

According to Porsche "sales" figures. MOST new Porsches are LEASED so most of those special people are simply RENTING their cars and will turn it in when something else catches their eye.
