If it has a P-car badge on it, I'm in. First one was a 914. If you think the 928 crowd gets blasted, own one of the "VW-Porsches" and see what kind of respect you get, that is until the guy tries to follow your perfectly balanced go-cart down the mountain pass. It has to be down, as up isn't a fair fight
Always wanted a 911, so a few years ago I bought a RUF prepped 997 - that's a great car. Did a bunch of mods to it and got to know the car pretty well, so when we were looking for a new DD for my wife, we bought another 997, which she also loves.
Always looking to expand my Porsche horizons, I'd always wanted a 928 too, but my wife was never very fond of the angled rear hatch glass - problem solved found a 928 Spyder / convertible - now I have my 928 and she can't complain about the rear "hatchback". I was smart enough to not bring up that the 997 Targa which looks like our 2 cars actually has a rear glass hatch that opens.
I never understood the model elitists - every one of Porsches cars are different and all have their plusses and minuses - I'm just happy and fortunate to be able to experience a nice sampling of them - might even check out a Cayenne or Macan when it's time for a new family SUV, and I wave/flash to the drivers of all of them.
Sonny Crockett said it best in an episode of our favorite 80s TV show. Out in the Everglades when a swamp monger told him "I buy American" his retort was "I buy whatever I feel like buying" and that shut him up quite successfully.
