Simon (76FJ55) diagnosed the issue I was having with Fuse 44 in the Blue 89. We believe that the electrical connection for the Dash light rheostat somehow contacted the aluminum curved part of the backside of the dash and continuously blew fuses. Since I had previously changed over to LED's in my digital dash cars, I neither needed nor used the rheostat and Simon wired around it and life is good.
Electricity is magic.

Just getting to know “Sharky” - week #2. Took it to a charity show and shine and a 928 local meetup tour. Wife likes it, and drives it well, but making a list of issues to address before giving her the green light for daily use.
The big issues are exhaust leak up front on right side. Parts ordered to replace system from headers back and cap off the leaks. More worrying is a fuel smell from right side of engine bay after a drive. Can’t see any obvious signs of weeping, fuel system has new lines and regulators. Will remove air filter and injector cover and see if that reveals anything. Failing that, leave it parked until it goes in for exhaust. No smoking!
Cosmetically we are making good progress. Paint is coming back with colour correction efforts. PO spilled brake or steering fluid on driver’s front wing, then tried to buff it out. Burned through the paint. So now Sharky got gills.
Planning a full dash removal to repair cracks, required for collector plates (and cheap insurance). Will do lights and turn signal cancelling repair “while I’m in there.” Probably also some of the AC components as I would like to get AC converted and working at some point.
Last night R&R of the clutch pack to eliminate a slipping clutch. Turn out the splined shaft slung grease onto the pressure plate. Of course didn't realize this until putting it all back together exactly the same way with bee friction discs, so it's coming apart again tonight before being driven.
Today, compression test to try and figure out what's causing my excessive crankcase pressure sending k Through the vent system.
Did a search on “fuel smell after driving.” Posts advises not starting car until fixed and buying a fire extinguisher. Hmmm. Sounds serious maybe.
Removed air cleaner and fuel injection covers, pretty big wrenching for me. No obvious sights of leaks, most of lines and regulators are obviously new. Start car, run a few minutes - I smell gas, but see nothing. Shut off car. Then I see it. Drip. Did that happen? Drip again.
Euphoria! This never happens. Normally my “repairs” lead to much bigger projects (and delays, and bills).
A little wrenching and Sharky is back on road and smelling much less, well, flammable.
The "LandShark" was a stripped racecar when I brought her home from Illinois. Nothing from the door panels back!
I managed to score an interior from a 2005 Mazda 6. It had some nice power leather seats, console and carpet. I managed to find a new Momo wheel locally thru Craigslist for $40... Mazda seats.
Took The Shark on the freeway today to pick up parts ordered from our sponsor, then.... Noooo! The Subie in front of me kicks up a rock - play it in slo-mo - CRACK! Dead perfect in line of sight, big chip. grrrr. took it for the glue in injection and ordered a new windscreen from Germany. 4 to 6 weeks.
Did some more minor wrenching. Success! Doors now stay open, driver’s side was proper JAWS! The titanium shim kit almost defeated me, so called 10 minute project took closer to 90, but I finally figured it out.
The rear hatch receiver replacement was a little faster, an hour, but now the only thing rattling over rough roads is the rear wiper. I call that a win.
Got windshield washers working!!!! There was a leak in the hose going to windshield so it kept draining back down.
Relocated pump to inside of fender well...attached it on strap for washer fluid and mounted it transversely, with hoses/connections pointed inwards
Ran all new hose all the way from pump to nozzles..
Pulled that ridiculous mess out from under the hood....put 2 one way valves...one before where the hose goes into the hood and one in the fender well about a foot from the pump...works great! Finally after years I have a reliable system.
Intensive washer works but needs cleaned however no leaks so I'll just a Y in there and put one way valve on the intensive washer side also and will have a small delay before intensive washer fluid hits but soooo much simpler!!!
Also replaced the plastic "T" fitting for the charcoal cannister plumbing with a metal one.
Also installed Carl's coolant reservoir...biggest issue was the coolant sentry...I couldn't find the parts so cleaned everything up and used some reflective metal foil tape to keep it securely attached and pointed the connection outwards towards passenger side rather than straight ahead towards front of car...where it barely cleared a hood screw...great unit! goes right in. Very happy I did the change.... Also used zip ties to secure...as another rennlister mentioned...it's so secure in there I also didn't see the need to try and get those bolts back in there....
Also, much better access to rad. cap....no more scraped knuckles on airbox...
