Spent a few hours laying on the floor with wrenches, levels and angle gauges getting the alignment dialed in. The front crossmember was out almost a year ago now for engine oil sump gasket, and it got motor mounts at the same time. This is now the second full alignment, as left front lower control arm seems to have moved a little as I added miles under it. Caster had drifted from normal 4.5º to 6.15º just on that left side, adding a little "pull" towards the right. Camber and toe were still perfect, so it seems the control arm drifted forward some; braking normally pushes that lower arm backwards, so this is an interesting change. Nonetheless, it's all good again. I may throw the alignment tools in the car for Sharktoberfest in a couple weeks, in case anyone is interested in seeing how some of it can be done DIY.
The street and driveway are ice-covered this morning. So long as the local gubment folks can resist the urge to put de-icer (salt slurry...) down early this year, the plan is to leave for Anaheim and Sharktoberfest in a couple weeks. There's a good bit of new snow on Mt. Bachelor already. Frozen fingers crossed...

it sounds very good. The orange lighting matches the dash which is one of the reasons I got it. Need to check if USB charging is possible. It's a good unit which complements the interior very well.

Hi Ron.
We put our house under contract about 2 weeks ago and are downsizing considerably with kids now out on their own. So I'm losing my lift, at least for the near term.
Now I'm no longer able to put it off until things slow down at the office.
It should be a roller again by Friday. Thank goodness for 3 day weekend.
Still a lot to do. Egads.

Motivated by a recent e-mail from another 928er regarding LED bulb choices for the ashtray backlight, I had my ashtray out anyway and decided to replace the less-than-satisfactory BA7s LED bulb (a Super Bright LEDs model BA7S-W, I think, installed many years ago, and that had a rather narrow beam) with another type I came across on Amazon.com ():
Installed in the socket, it looks like this:
which, in turn, is clipped into the ashtray assembly next to the lighter socket:
It's got a better beam pattern and is brighter than the previous BA7s LED bulb, so I could get rid of a metal reflector that I had cobbled together that focused light on the back of the white plastic disk above the lighter, and also allows a little light to go through the hole in the side of the ashtray and illuminate the interior slightly (as before, with the original incandescent bulb).
The car should be much faster now, I'm sure.

I retrieved my only 1/4" drive 10mm short socket from under the Intake manifold on my GTS finally. I then used it to tighten the 2 nuts that hold each fuel rail to the engine. Happy days!!

^^^^^^ You're my hero.
Meanwhile, at our place . . . looking over engine grime and contemplating whether a leaky AC compressor sprays oil this way.
I hate grime.
