So what did you do to your 928 Today......
I believe the "S"and "4"were off from a 911, they were reversed and read 4s
I'm on it!

I replaced a coolant fan in my 89 S4 (the drivers side one was squealing like a pissed off pig), and reinstalled a rear muffler from a GT. (I was running X pipe, factory mids, and RMB) The car sounded great with that setup when at idle, but at WOT it was just too loud and unrefined. The GT muffler with the x pipe gives it a great sound and I'm glad I made the change. I also had the chance while the car was on the lift to check out the power steering rack that I rebuilt last month. Still going strong with no leaks. Yaay!

I'd bought one of those dent removing kits from the parts store a while back...so I thought it was time to put it to use.
First, washed off the area where said door dings resided with warm soapy water, heated up the glue gun, applied some to the applicator pull tool, waited the eight minutes as required, installed bridge assembly, tighten wing nut...pulled dent. Did two more dings, polished area where dents were...and then rewaxed the entire car. Cleaned the windows, checked all fliud levels under the hood, all good to go, but just threw the cover over her. Now, she just rest...until the rain ends.
Brian.

I added some new underhood lights in a new configuration - I was inspired by the discussion of this on Gary Knox's car a while back - though I'd actually had the idea to do this a good long while ago.
I found some interesting lights - designed as license plate lamps but very suitable for this:
Pilot Lights: License Plate Lights
They are almost surface mount - but they require a central tail through hole for the connections but it only needs a few MM for clearance and there is plenty behind the hood cross brace. Since I have a GTS where the lights are always on when the hood is open - I have added a switch with LED illumination so that when the hood is open the switch lights up, then only if the switch is closed the 2 underhood lights also light up. Practical use will be - leave the switch off and the lights never come on, consumption is ~6mA for the switch illumination - but only when the hood is open. However the illuminated switch makes it easy to locate the switch in the dark should you then need to turn on the lights.
When both lights are on they consume ~60mA compared to the >700mA that the single 10W festoon consumes. So we have consumption reductions of >90% for the lights on and >99% for the lights off (only switch illumination on) both over the hood open case with stock 10W festoon bulb.
Meanwhile the 10W festoon is approx 120 lumens omni-directional while the dual LED's are 70 lumens total but quite well focussed just on the engine bay, maybe a 90 degree arc. Subjectively they are clearly brighter and the dual lights make for a more pleasing - almost shadow free view of most things. The color temp is of course much closer to daylight too.

The switch (especially illuminated) makes so much sense.
BTW when you install these you need to look at the hood closure - these must be mounted forward in the car - right to the edge of the hood cross brace - because the radiator top seal is right there just behind this - there is room but not a whole lot... that keeps them a little cooler than on the engine side too.
... And yes - I need to clean the hood (and many other things too...)

You do have to drill holes in the hood, so ALWAYS ALWAYS use depth stops!, you could easily drill clean through the outside (and could easily dent it too). I taped up around the existing hole for the lamp flex wire marked out the size I needed then used a nibbler for the big hole then a rotary power file to finish. Fishing wires across the hood is actually pretty easy, I did discover that the wires in my hood were backwards, power was ground and ground was power - someone must have flipped a connector somewhere. I know the hood was off sometime before I got it - some cut and badly spliced wires subsequently cleaned up - this was probably swapped somewhere in in that mess... need to dig into that more - but when i'ts cooler.

What have done to your 928 today
Hi all well were do I start. Got the old girl going new fuel E.T.C. you know all the things you have to do after standing for two years. Just overhauled brakes as well .Thank goodness it came from Italy no salt on roads there so no frozen nuts and bolts E.T.C. Had a lot of money spent on it in the past owned by an American by the name of Robert Shipley 2012 ish .
