Fixed headlight over retraction problem. Spline shaft on headlight motor was mostly stripped. Put in a replacement motor that had some sharp teeth and after several alignment attempts headlights are raising and lowering properly.
Cleaned her up, enjoyed a warm long weekend with a couple good drives. This car continues to amaze/impress me ... 30 years old, but you would never know it.
Fitted a new relay to the HVAC head unit on my Euro 16v.
I used an Omron G6B2214P-US 12v. This relay has the advantage that it is rated for 5 Amps, rather than the miserable 2.5A of the original.
It's small enough to fit comfortably inside the relay with the covers on.
Great to know. In my old 91, the guy who replaced the relay used a 5A one as well-and I think it was Omron. Fused it with 3A at the freeze switch and good to go.
Hey Guys,
It's been a while for me. When it rains, it pours...
Hadn't seen the car, my tools etc in a while. Got the car out of the Maine winter hibernation mode and on the road. Timing belt tension check, oil and air filter change, coolant change, battery cell inspection, and cleaning/Deoxit to easy grounds and 13 pin. One cell on the battery a little low on H2O and some charging necessary. She started up on the first throw.
Hope all has been well with you.
Popped a hole in my radiator... looking for a replacement used for my 89 928 S4.... anyone have one ? Buehler... Buehler.... ? :} I need to post three times in order to be active, so thanks for letting me post here. Indy 500 or Bust this weekend !

Search will be your friend.
928 International has a pretty slick all aluminum replacement if yours can't be repaired. New originals can be spendy. They have good used ones too.
Craig, good to hear from you and that you have your 928 out and running. Hope to catch up with you at one of the shows. There is a tech session down in Wilbraham, ma, not sure how far from you, on July 11.
Will be doing an oil change this weekend.

Hey there Bob,
Hope all is well. July in Wilbraham will be tough. We are in the midst of transitioning to North Country in NY. I have been there for months laying the groundwork.

Add: What I did today - put the new tags on the plates that I got yesterday. They were expired from before I left.
On my '88 auto, I cleaned and cleaned everything I could get to around the transmission area, drained the transmission and torque converter, dropped the pan, replaced the filter, cleaned the pan and reservoir, then reinstalled with new gasket.
Since the pan had been leaking since the PO had it, I had never been able to even see the reservoir for the accumulated crud. In aggregate I spent several hours cleaning everything I could get to - which made a relatively easy job a long one. This is what the pan looked like after cleaning:
Addressed a problem with my install of a DC FK95 fan controller. The issue was a physical wiring issue from where I had the trans temp, air intake temp, and high pressure refrig sensors tie into a SPST relay before going to the controller unit for fan activation through pins 12 & 13 on the control unit. After getting out of Northern Maine winter hibernation, I have clicking of the relay when I hit bumps. As I have to leave town and not track the fault, I have just disconnected the 30 pin power source to the relay from the Xbus output of fuse 3. The AC activation and the primary temp sensor work great, and this unit was a really good alternative. Will get to the wiring fault a little down the road.
