My '90 had a driver's side door mirror with convex glass mirror - the kind that gives a wider view but makes everything seem further away that is - which is typically on the passenger side. I speculated that this had to do with the fact the car was originally for the Japanese (RHD) market, but is a LHD car. When I investigated further I found the passenger side is also convex. Strangely my Canadian-market '88 has two flat mirrors.
Anyway, I really liked the wider view the driver's side gave, but I found it took some adjustment when first using it. Since I routinely drive a number of other cars that don't have a wide angle mirror on the driver's side, I decided this weekend while doing a long drive, that I really should replace the mirror glass with a flat one for the sake of safety.
When I got the car, there was a new uncurved flat mirror with it; so likely the PO had planned a swap as well.
Anyway, today I swapped the mirror glasses. At first it was not obvious how to do this, but then I found this video:
(The mirrors are exactly the same as on a 944, and in fact the glass has a 944 p/n)
Once I realized that the round securing plate on the back was actually in two parts, I was able to lubricate the outer ring and get it to turn on the inner - it had been jammed. The swap was then straightforward.

I'd love to do this in reverse with my passenger-side mirror. I'm used to having the wide angle mirror, but my shark has a flat one. It feels next to useless over there.

plus those crest are very settle and I'm surprised to say look very good as as though they should have been a genuine fit. good call on them. are they coloured or mat greys?
would you mind sending a better picture of the side fender crest plus the size of it. I may nik the idea from you

Yes they are 18" the fronts are 8" ET 57 with 235/35-18 tires.. The rears are 11" with 295/35-18 tires.
The ride feels great to me, however I've always ran 18's So I don't know what the the factory 16's feel like on comparison.
I'll have to snap a pic of the fender badge.

I wanted a higher armrest with more storage so I modified this one to fit, also has a tray that pulls out in front for change and such. It leaves a nice spot underneath as well, for my USB and ipod hookup cables. The **** on top is a Master Volume control for the radio/Nav unit, kinda like the Idrive ***** in a BMW.
Thoughts?

Cayenne "S"? 991 "4"?
Anyway, I think the styles blend well, it makes the point with screaming. Gotta put a dot of pain in that second 'o" though!
