Checked my TB tension with the Kempf tool and stopped the warnings that I have ignored for too long. Don't pass everything off as an electrical fault.

washed and waxed. then while cleaning out the wheel wells found that 1/2 of the retaining bolts on the front splash guards had pulled through and broken the plastic. Had to fabricate some simple retainers to keep them from flapping while going down the road. The guard on the passenger front was rubbing a power line so getting it secure again turned out to be main effort today. Looks like I found the problem before it rubbed through the power line so all is well.

Found out I had a battery hold down from when I bought the car hidden within the two buckets of parts that the car came with.
Now I can take it to a few DE days when I dial it in.

Re-installed wing on '90 after restoring stud/bolt (thread). So far it is holding. Cut a rubber pad for each side to mount wing on in addition to teflon pad. Now no more squeaks.

Ok, this was really on Sunday, but I figure I'm close enough. Checked timing belt, re-timed, & retensioned. Girl runs like a champ now!

Didn't really do anything, but my daughter wants to give me back her 84 Euro (that I gave her) as she is being deployed again and doesn't get to drive it a lot ! How can a nice father say no to such a generous gift

This morning I did Phase 1 of a 3 part process to repair some cracks in the pod and dash. Will take days to complete due to the waiting for the curing.

Flushed the PSD on my '90. I followed the excellent write up by Louis Ott and John Veninger, posted on the 928 International site here.

Lots of bubbles/foam came out with the initial flush. The fluid was an amber colour, not the black sludge that some report, but not a very light yellow of new fluid either. I suspect that the main issue was that it had run dry and sucked a lot of air.

A few additions:
  1. The procedure calls for two pints of DOT 4. I used part of a third as I wanted to flush the system well
  2. The 7mm wrench used on the PSD bleeder screw has to be really short, or be a ratchet type, as access to turn is very restricted
  3. There is a step missing after step 33 - namely to reconnect the PSD lock solenoid (reverse of step 11), but it is pretty obvious

Cured my "Magic Blower." Took out the resistor pack, cleaned a bunch of lint and crud out of it, bent the thermo strip up just a touch and put it all back to together.

And it works correctly.
