So what did you do to your 928 Today......

Washed it, and the white car. Took a photo that has amused the members of a French horn forum. There are a few Porsche people there, but as musicians, they typically put their $7000 horn into a $500 car. The inside joke here is that I presented the cars as instrument cases - the flat-six car is suitable for a detachable-bell horn, while the 928 is good for a fixed-bell horn. Hilarious! To a horn player.

Got a new (to me) set of Ford blue-topped injectors from Roger, put them in. So THAT'S what an almost-300 hp Porsche V8 is supposed to feel like! I really should have done this sooner. The somewhat temporary effectiveness of the Liqui-Moly injector cleaner was what pushed me over the edge to believing I needed to do this. I did find one rather alarming connector issue...one of the boots was torn, which I had noted previously, but it really looks like bare wire in there. I guess if it breaks, I go down to 7 cylinders, and if it shorts, it kills all my injectors (does it blow a fuse? If that happens, can I just unplug it and drive home on 7?). I hate soldering wires (I suck at it for some reason) but clearly I need to fix that. But, damn, the car is driving nicely now...I guess I will go dig up all the various threads I started on power loss, rough running, shuddering, etc because they're all gone now.

Got a 75 foot roll of felt tape and went to work getting rid of all my random interior squeaks while I wait for the B-Quiet Ultimate to arrive: A pillar, Dash to Windshield, Glove Box and Hatch Liner / Rear Visors all got the silent treatment. Will also do the back of the door panel handrest when that gets put back together. Took it for a quick test ride and the car is (for the first time since I bought it 8 years ago) squeak free

B-Quiet Ultimate is going onto the inner and outer door skins, and the bare sheet metal in the cabin and hatch. I'll top the floor pans and hatch floor with closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl as well. Plan is to do this without completely removing the carpet but I may change my mind once I get in there.
I'll try to snap some shots of the spots where I added the felt tape - basically all of the interior panel joints that flex and rub were squeaking like crazy so I added tape to these spots. The dash to windshield was a bit tougher since there isn't much room to get the tape in place. What I did there was roll the tape to make it thicker (it's the 2" wide stuff) and basically turn it into a thick rope of felt without adhesive which i was able to shove between the glass and the front of the dash. It's invisible from inside the car but you can see it when looking through the glass from outside so I'll do this properly when I remove the dash at some point in the future.

I found the reason for my "all or nothing" A/C. Broken sensor wire in the Alternator cooling hose:
Thanks Wally!

Horns decided to stop working a couple months back. A safety issue I'm ashamed I postponed. They were always weak since I took ownership 5 years ago but now they are dead.
My first thought was that the horn switch on the steering wheel had a bad connection due to prior fiddling. Depressing horn did cause an audible click on the horn relay so I figured power was flowing. After figuring out where the heck the horns were located(right side front wheel well near head light) I tested for power during depressing steering wheel switch. 12V as expected on horn leads.
I then put a jumper battery on each horn and both are dead. What are the odds? I did note that each electrical connector had dripping moisture coming out of each connector boot.
Placing order with Mark for replacement horns tomorrow.

Spent some time working on a nasty rock chip I managed to acquire last Saturday. Sounded like a bullet strike on the upper part of the driver's door behind the mirror. I was on the way to a street show in Redmond when it started to rain, then sleet/small hail then snow, then back to rain. So it came back to the barn for remedial care instead. It was supposed to be a better day on Saturday, but the clouds weren't aligned with the stars.
The repair looks pretty good so far. Needs to cure for a week, get a final touch with the brush, then flatten and air-brush the last bit of black. Won't be able to tell anything ever happened.

Finally got the last electronic component of my 81 working properly. The door locks.
Still waiting on parts to finish the brake conversion though, I was shipped the wrong rear rotors .
