Installed the second CV axle after a messy Sunday. These big axle are so much easier to assemble than the smaller ones from my previous SC and my 912E. The last one probably only took me about 2 hours from out to in - completely dissasembled and cleaned with new boots.

Part of on going project...ya see, ya dont want to have the seats redone without doing the carpet, which means pulling out about everything else, including console...and of course dont want to have the console out without cleqning up wires and checking entire HVAC. And if you're gonna do that...
Well today it's a new AUX fusebox (100 amp 6 place) and rear power port, two new front power ports, LED down wash lighting (that i decided to do when I pulled the sunroof...and thus the headliner...) and of course now would be the time for new stereo...so...a wire mess. But cleaner and nicer than before!

Installed a parking brake lever assy from Ebay to replace the one in the car that was missing the button and spring and ??? that kept it from working...cheaper to buy the whole lever used than to replace the missing pieces. Now, just have to wait on my rear rotors and pads to get here, hopefully by Friday !

Replaced all the ABS wire looms, and wheel speed sensors, plus replaced the plugs for the ABS and brake pad wear sensors on the drivers side. It all works again as it should!!!!

Washed her off, took her for a quick spin to check every thing out. Gonna take the "Shark" to the Leatherneck Club tonight. First time it's been out of the garage since last November.

Working on the sunroof and the center console.

At Stan's suggestion, I warmed up the gasket (in the oven, not laying in the sun), applied a generous helping of soapy water, and pushed it in. Too easy! I was messing with the center console, so I didn't get a chance to try to bolt it up. I'll work on that next week.

I started putting the center console back together after pulling it apart to remove the vintage cell phone install, check the switches at the foot of the console, and remove the existing Blaupunkt stereo. I found the passenger side tab at the base of the console broken, so I rigged up a loop of wire to work in its place. I also test-fitted the new stereo and made sure the HVAC controls were still operating. So far, so good.

I still need to pull the kluged wiring for the Blaupunkt apart and put in the JVC wiring harness.

Managed to tear both of the Greg Brown cam carrier gaskets that were in my possession and apparently the last two that were in Texas. Roger is re-ordering Monday morning from Greg, but alas, the Stepson will be down another week now. Damn it!

Nothing today, been too busy driving the shark. Yes I have a to-do list, but all of those little things would take away from the drive time.
The big projects are done, just enjoying the effort now.

Bertrand,

I second Scott's recommendation of Evapo-Rust. O'Reiley's carries it. Comes in 0.5 and 1.0 gallon containers here.It is a dip you soak the parts in and the rust is...well gone Only problem here in Florida is that one needs to coat the now clean parts very quickly before they start surface corroding again (brake rotors in my case).

Cheers,
Carl

It works well. I posted about it here. For this situation, you would soak a paper towel in it, wrap the paper towel around the rusted areas, and then wrap the paper towel in Saran Wrap (so it doesn't dry.) It works like a charm.
