Unloaded my 1990 S4 just delivered last night.

Right off only a few issues to address.

1. Learn the Alpine SEC-8058 alarm system. Neighbors probably didn't appreciate the alarm last night at 11 and I didn't know how to turn it off. Finally put key in door to lock/unlock to disable it. Happens again this morning. UHG
2. Spoiler is loose from the holder. Glue/ epoxy?
3. Wash it. Dirty coming across then US from NV to NC.
4. Boost gage.
5. Educate myself on superchargers and tuning. Will lean on this forum, local speed shop and 928 Motorsport's to help with this.
6.?????

Tony, Any pics? I'm thinking of doing the same thing but have not found a suitable location, or solution.

I bought my car last month, then drove it 50 feet into my garage to change out the 20-year-old timing belt. Today, I drove it out of the garage and kept going! I'm very happy.

I now have all my gauges working and my interior lights come on when I open the door. Some (ok, most) people don't appreciate that but I see it as quite an accomplishment.

Any chance you could post a series of steps you took to make that bit of magic happen? ☺

Put the center console back together with a new Analog clock from Roger, and a new interior temp sensor to replace the inoperative piece that was puttied into my dash. Yes....puttied!

- Fixed hood release
- Installed missing headlight housing and trim rings
- Installed new wipers on the windshield...still not sure how to make the rear work
- Rigged a hanger to hold up my Borla muffler (not really intended for the S3 but love the sound, so...)
- Replaced distributor caps/rotors
- Checked timing belt tension, increased it, re-connected tension warning system
- Freaked out at white smoke (really, steam) pouring out from under my hood
- Reconnected upper radiator hose properly (doh!)

Productive weekend...lots more to do!

You might want to think about a simple mod - you can buy extra handles - pretty inexpensively (waytekwire.com I think).

Then you can keep one or more spare switch handles (like you have) for times when you will be switching on/off repeatedly - but for driving around normally just use a cut/off handle with a screwdriver slot cut into it - you can even get an end cover as shown. This has no need for a hole in the tool panel or for the handle to be visible.

If you wanted to use this as a security device its also pretty stealthy - esp. with the cover on - who would know (apart from my label! )

The last gauge (volts) started working after I cleaned the ground strap and 6-pin connector by the driver's side wiper arm mount. I had re-freshed the CE panel the week before and that improved the warning light brightness tremendously.
As for the interior lights that was a matter of a bad connection in that relay that I re-soldered, that was tough to diagnose. For a while the interior lights wouldn't light up with the door but would light with the hatch opening.

Drove it!

About 250 miles with our local PCA group for our last coffee run of the season.
Beautiful ride in the countryside west of Ottawa.
23 cars from a very nice 1965 356 convertible driven by it's original owner and his wife to a recent Boxster Spyder from NY State!
Many beautiful recent and older cars. Real nice blend.
And three 928's! A beautiful red '78, a '89GT - yes a GT and mine.

Had a great time. Probably the last big ride of the season unfortunately.
Well...
