Luckily I have access to a really skilled guy that used to work for us- I dropped off the instrumentcluster because it had lots of small malfunctions, and he soldered all the contact points, made them longer and wrapped them around the edge of the plastic, and glued them in place- and sudenly the whole "pling center" came alive

Oil viscosity & noisy tappets.
I cured my hot-engine, noisy tappet problem :-) I've had the car a year now and a while ago noticed noisy tappets occasionally. I looked at a few threads on here and an oil additive seemed the way to go. Can't get the Swepco stuff here, and US suppliers won't ship it due to HazChem regulations so I used a bottle of Wynn's tappet cleaner which did not change the problem. Nor did a pint of 'fancy ATF'. Nor did several Italian tune-ups. I had the problem narrowed to hot oil and engine idling - under these conditions the oil pressure dropped below 2 bar and the noise was there. Put a few revs on and the oil pressure went up and the noise went away. So I concluded that it was an oil viscosity problem.
Previous oil change (previous owner) used 0W30 oil. I looked around several suppliers and a lot of recommended oils are around this grade (so it would seem that oil companies are recommending oils of the wrong grade). There is a thread on here somewhere where a lot of the US guys swear by 20W50 but that's a bit thick for British winters so I went for a Mobil 1 10W60. Just for good measure I did an engine flush before the oil change and still the lifter lifter noise was there just before we killed the engine and dropped the oil, so I had high hopes for the oil change...
Now running on 10W60, showing just over 2 bar oil pressure on a hot engine at idle (after a good spanking) and the noise is gone.
I am chuffed.

Picked it up from the mechanic. Had to get some transmission seals replaced as it was leaking a bit. Drove it over to the place that will we wrapping it for me. Can't wait to see how it looks in a day or two. I'll post pics when I get it back.

Are you getting the entire car wrapped?
