As posted earlier, one of the horns in my '88 was missing and the mount broken. I decided to replace both horns rather than source a replacement for the second. I purchased some Fiamm ones locally that are quite a bit lighter (8oz vs 18 oz each) and smaller, but have a good sound rating:

After fabricating a bent bracket and enlarging an existing hole in the cross bar, I was able to mount both horns, in a somewhat cleaned up wheel well:

And then replaced the now patched splash shield:

I'm pleased with the sound and loudness.

Took her to work to show off to my colleagues. Most are now contemplating looking for one for themselves. It was a 150 mile round trip nd she took it all in her stride. I had to charge the battery before I went though.

Removed the 6k km Lasso water pump with a free spinning impellar [car has been o/heating] and fitted a new on from the Porsche agent.
Hope this one lasts longer!
My first 928, an 81S water pump started leaking at 290k km.

Today I am replacing HVAC actuators, removing carpet for new kit install, and resealing blower box. Trying to stay focused before the Seahawks give the Falcons a whoopin.

Started her up after replacing all fuel lines in the engine compartment. No leaks. Began taking the Pod off to do dash lights. And you do have to take the steering wheel off an 89 to get the pod off.

Full fuel tank, steel wool in exhaust tips, winter tires overinflated to 45 psi, battery disconnected & fully charged, car covered with inside breathable car cover - awaiting for (late) spring.

Measured flex plate tension at 3mm, and crank end play at 0.2mm - which is within factory spec. Phew... Likely first time this has been done.
Since the inspection cover has an inspection hole in it and I have an endoscope, I marked the final assembly after I tightened the clamp and added a PKlamp, so that I can do a quick visual check in the future without removing the cover:

This has been a big week for 928's for me...
Mark Robinson finished installing the PC'ed intake, cam covers, etc on the '95, I put in a new battery, and my PDR guy took out 5 door dings! I doubt the car has looked this good in more than a decade!
Then I got pics today of the new interior for the '78! Robert Budd did his usual stellar work taking the car back to its factory original look with black and white Pascha (or is it Pacsha???)! Once 928 Classics (Jim Doerr) is finished updating all the mechanical stuff and reinstalls the "new" interior this car is going to be AMAZING! Kevin Michaels finished the paint work a couple of weeks ago so the outside already looks new! I can't wait to see this car finished!
The same PDR friend took my '94 back to his shop after dropping off the '95 to take care of a couple of very subtle dings in that car. I'll have it back tomorrow! Yee ha!
A heck of a great 928 year already and we are not even a month in!

I fixed the stop lamp socket on the '87. Oddly, my '88 required the same repair due to corrosion affecting the exact same socket - left stop lamp socket. The right side is ok on both.
I also put in a new brake master cylinder in the '87 (no pics, sorry). This job is easiest if the reservoir is removed first. Mine was stuck on pretty good, and I didn't want to damage it trying to get it off while it was in the car, so I had to go under and up with a 13mm socket to get the nut going near the fender. I finished with a stubby wrench. Putting the new one in was easy.
