Polecat702, I also have two more years to hit the 25-year mark. I'm wondering if I should hang on to mine 'til then...thinking of selling and that would be a great selling point....if I can keep the miles down. Do you or anyone else have opinions on that?

Thanks...it was something you mentioned in a previous thread that tipped me off to ask about them. I was actually at the DMV to get a new title for our truck. I asked the lady a question about classic plates and she told me its no longer such an involved process like it used to be.....just fill out two forms and bring your old plates in with proof of insurance. I litteraly went home, took of my plates and went back and got in line again 30 minutes later.

I don't really know if it's a big deal on a stock 928, mine has always passed the smog test. Tony's car has a blower. No more inspections, is a plus for him. Same with my other collector cars. My Pantera has a blower motor, and is anything but stock.

Personally, I think someone either wants to own a 928, or they don't. I love'em, and have no intentions of ever selling mine. Miles don't hurt a car IMHO, it's how they're cared for. Yours looks very nice, great color!

Default Mileage and Smog Tests

Well, mine has really low mileage for the years so I would like to keep it that way. I LOVE driving it and already put about 4,000 miles on it this year. I have 285,000 miles on my daily driver (Toyota) so I just want to keep the uniquness factor alive for the Porsche...average right now is 1,600 miles/year. I have never had to subject to a smog test in Texas so that really isn't a factor here.

Nice S4 John! What red is that exactly, sure looks nice.

You must live in a county that's not yet in EPAs cross-hairs. Once you become 'non-attainment' then you start having annual smog testing.

Didn't get the cams installed yet. They are DEVEK B1's and require the use of a lash cap (you can see them in the first pic) , which I believe require notching the oil intake ports on the lifters before installation. The lash caps ride piggy back on the valve stem, and therefore the lifter sits 2mm higher in its bore. The issue is whether this will lift the oil intake port in the lifter above the oil channel in the bore. If so, I've believe the remedy is to elongate the oil port 1mm downward so the port once again accesses the pressurized channel in the lifter bore. Only got the one head done today, probably save the other for next weekend.

Removed leather from rear quarters and replacing front wheel bearings. Seems pretty simple compared to my neighbor above. Hello Adam

Hey Thomas!
Head assembly is not too difficult, especially with all new (clean) parts. Just tedious, there are a lot of valves in there!

Glad to see you sticking with it! This has been a long project...

Where did you get them resurfaced?

Default Change Tranny Fluid

Let see… “cover in foil and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees…” j/k Changing transmission fluid but wanted to keep dust/dirt out while I re-plate bolts and reservoir guard. Aluminum foil worked great.
