Those of us who have been reading between the lines have surmised that Brett is going to be using a system with continuously variable nitrous flow, as opposed to most if not all current nitrous systems that just slam a solenoid open for full flow. In that sense, the system DOES sound far more advanced than what is commonly available here.
Just sayin'....

Thanks, that was my point precisely

i know its slightly off topic, but for tony here is the 'bread van' :

We DO have those here. NX, Holly, FJO, NOS and many others make a progressive controller system. Most serious racers some type of programmable EFI management system in conjunction with a progressive N2O controller. IIRC, he's using the factory enginemanagement! How's he going to view fuel and timing maps, or more importantly, pull timing?

Progressive systems are different...
They use a series of solenoids, so you can do a burst of 100 extra horsepower, then as you get further down the track, unleash another 100 horsepower, and so on, and so on... But they are indeed "bursts" of additional nitrous, not variable. It sounds like this new system can slowly dial up the pressure and flow of each solenoid, so it can gradually ramp up the horsepower over time.
But I do agree that regardless of how hard the nitrous hits, it's still just a lot of fuel, air, and nitrous, to shove down the intake. Not to mention the issue of how much power the engine can take.
But I am actually cool with the idea that if he gets the ratio right, and it works, he will be able to determine how much power the stock internals can take. And if he's lucky, they will last long enough to achieve his goal.

What kind of nitrous system is used doesn't matter at all IMHO, Think of a Pro Stock drag race engine, and stick a 928 Intake on it, will it flow enough to make 1,000+HP? No way, same on the exhaust side.

You are absolutely correct, I can control the Nitrous flow (and fuel) in 1% increments from 1% to 100%...in my case that means from 10hp to 1000hp in 10hp lumps...

Well I am doing some testing and shakedown runs this Sunday at Santapod (Uk drag racing track)
But it will mainly be setting up and I doubt I will run more than a couple of hundred horsepower at the most...

Sounds like wicked care free fun!
The only difference is that he chooses to blow something up before making adjustments or upgrades, and he likes it that way. I am too old to be ripping things apart so I like the prevention method better, that is, unless I won the lotto. Then I would rather blow things up!

LOLLLL..I always did like blowing things up
Not engines mind you, I am just easy going, if it works (200 plus) it works, if it blows it blows
To be honest I have put in a fair amount of preparation for this..and money lol..
But we will see....

Hi All
OK....here is what went on at the Pod...
After a couple of teething problems with my piping, where a Nitrous pipe released at 950 psi and I managed to lose the contents of both my 15 lb bottles rather rapidly lol...
I then set it all up again and having refilled with another 30 lbs , I turned on my twin bottle heaters and once pressure was back up at 950 psi , I headed for the fire up lane...
I then got to staging....I rolled it through the water for a rolling burnout under Nitrous power
I shot a long way past the tree ..lol and had to reverse back to stage in the cloud of smoke that I had created...
I then staged and waited for the green....
Green hit the light and I hit the loud pedal....
That when it got really funny lol....
I have no LSD and so I had so much power that my rear left started spinning....
And kept spinning as I headed up the track......1/4 track...STILL SPINNING..
Half track.....STILL SPINNING
3/4 track......STILL SPINNING
Full track....STILL SPINNING
Time was a 17.46 at 94.87 mph.....lol
I have NEVER felt so much power in a street car and obviously my car/Nitrous system is designed for high speed runs....not drag racing...and all I did for the whole run was keep pulling the wheel to the left to try and keep it straight
I did see 7500 revs on the tacho at one stage although I did melt a plug as I went through the timing light at the top end...
The plug gone meant my day was finished (why is it always the LAST one you change out of 8 thats the bad one lol)
I will add 3 pictures of the melted plug...
In total it was a great and relaxing day, got a lot of setting up done and will now move to NGK B9ECS (retracted nose plugs and 2 more heat ranges colder) to save melting any more, I will also alter the fuel/Nitrous ratio to a safer level, lol...
