AO,

How are you pressurizing the manifold?

Thanks,

Ken

Hi Ken,

I bought a 4" (I think) PVC end cap, and then using a router shaved it down a bit to fit the MAF elbow. Tapped it for a quick connect and violla! You can pressurize the intake.

For venting, is it possible to take your M10 bolt and have it drilled on a lathe to create the vent like the KB bolt?

Possible, yes. Worthwhile, no. The issue becomes that the shaft that the bolt goes into also needs to be "vented." I'm sure I could look into it, but at this point, the catch-can solution seems to be working pretty well. Made over 12 pounds of boost last night and the catch-can seems to be stable. I think I need to hook up the sharktuner and start recording data for the sharkplotter.

Is it this one? If yes, then the thickness range based on tolerance numbers (-0.02" - 0.01" from 0.09", * 2) is 3.56mm - 5.08mm (28.8% - 0% compression). If they are all exactly 0.09", that would be ~4.57mm which is less than 10% compression. If these hold up well, that would be great.

I did draw up a 4mm thick steel spacer that I could have a machine shop fab up, but I'd have to make 100 of them (10 sets) to be cost effective at ~$30 per set of 10. Stainless would be more like $45 per set.

Hi Dan,

No, I got mine from Home Depot. I forget the exact measurement, but two stacked up came to a titch over 3/16". And they fir the gasket quite well. I got scared about using stainless because if they fell into the intake port, I was going to be screwed. But the steel ones didnt fit. On hind-sight, I should have given them a dab of super glue just to tack them in place on the gasket. But maybe I just got lucky.

Ah ya you are right. That doesn't sound like it is worth the hassle.

Can't wait to see the dyno results!

Went to the dyno yesterday. Put down some pretty nice numbers. then at the end Hans noticed my intercooler wasn't pumping! That could have cost me a 10+ WHP which would have put me at 500. Oh well.... I was hoping to hit 480-490WHP and I did that, so mission accomplished! Monster TQ number too! 490WHP and 493WTQ!

A big thanks to Luke at Beyond Redline in Green Bay, WI. Also thanks to Tim Murphy, Hans, Tom, Jean-Louis, Angnes, Hacker, and maybe a few others I'm forgetting. It was a good day!

Got a ride in the 1,006 HP beast that Todd built. That thing is amazing! Pictures do not do it justice!

Yummy, yummy, look at that nice fat torque curve - not really a curve, just large and flat :-)

Those are awesome numbers - congrats! The shape of the HP and torque curves looks really good.

Which tyre company are you taking shares in

Over 400 tq at 2200 rpm! Excellent result. This thing should pull like a tractor..... only faster

That low end torque is quite amazing. The tractor comment makes me think of a friend I have that runs highly modified pulling tractors. He says that if he ever let the tractor go without a sled there is not a street car in the world that would would beat it to 60mph.

Thanks guys. It's amazing how hard the car pulls. I try to be gentle just so I don't spin the clutch, but once it bites, this car throws you into the back of the seat. I'm running Continental Extreme Contact DW tires. These are the best tires I've ever run. They really hook up and are quiet and very predictable.

I did have a little scare just before going to the dyno. I went to check the SCer oil level and the dip stick came off the cap and fell into the SCer! Luckily it came out with a magnet. But it appears the plastic of the oil cap that retains the dipstick had fallen apart and fell into the Scer and mucked things up a bit. It didn't do any harm, but the oil was black! We flushed it out a few times and called it good. So far so good. Need to get a new dipstick. Also, I think the intercooler pump isn't working again... need to look at all that stuff and make sure it's working.

Finally, When leaving Green Bay, we filled up with gas and they only had 91 octane. It was amazing how much difference there is between 91 and 93! The car knocked BIG TIME! I had to stay out of the boost for the most part. I think I need to play around and come up with a conservative tune for whne I get low-grade gas in the future so I don't hurt the engine. I didn't think there would be that big of a difference, but clearly there is because when I filled up again in Michigan, I got 93 and the car felt like a rocketship again!

George Suennen installed methanol/water injection. He runs 13 to 15 PSI boost on 91 octane with stock S4 internals. Runs with much fewer knocks than with 100 octane race gas.
