trying to convert a DR S4 dual intake set up to a single intake.
anyone ever have a rear intake fabricated, or know where to buy one that would fit an autorotor?

Kenne bell used the Autorotor units and rebranded them as their own for many years. They
only recenlty (in the last maybe 4 or so years) have used the HPS instead.

That is the only place you are going to find an off-the-shelf part, perhaps from a 2003-2004 Ford Cobra kit?

You could make one very easily with an inexpensive waterjet flange and two 4.5" OD 90degree mandrel bends. Throw in a bit of mill work to get a locating position for the bends, and a bit of 16g sheet stock, and you would have a very nice piece.

What Hans said...issue with the nice Ford set ups(that i looked at ages ago) is they probably wont fit. The depth is the concern..they will hit the fuel lines on the firewall...or the other "stuff" down there behind the stock intake. You could probably get one, use it for the flange then butcher it and add your own intake shape by fabricating somehting? You want a nice smooth approach to the intake lobes of the rotor assembly....the set up i have is basically a "chamber" and the air is sucked in..not really directed in.

Next time i have it off i think i will fabricate a set of stators to help the air turn into the lobes.

If you have DR's set up with the smaller SC you may be in luck as they are shorter overall?

Tony,

I have the flange profile done if that helps you, glad to send you a copy of the file, or can get one cut for you.

The 1.7l is only about an inch shorter than the 2.1l, but at least that that length comes off on the firewall end.

Next time you're up this way, if you're done with the KB intake, I'd like it back. I have a buyer for the KB kit I purchased last year, but I need the intake.

Default DR Intake question

Working on a DR intake that has the supercharger bolted on from the inside of the manifold.
Was attempting to open the manifold to upgrade to a larger supercharger.
After using carb cleaner to remove the right stuff, it seems like there are small spot welds on the inside.
Is this possible?
Has anyone ever run into this before?

Mine had some spot welds, but they had failed by the time I got in there. When I resealed it I used some black permatex to seal it... Holy crap that stuff is strong.

You might need to get in there with a dremel or a small rotary shaft tool to break the welds, but there will be a few locations where you cannot reach.

Heres the pic from my SCer thread. You can see where some of the welds were on mine. Next time, I'm going to use a different method to seal things.

Great thank you. I think I am going to stay with the original plan. Just instal it as is with the 1.7 l unit. Once I get the dual inlet back from Hans ill start to put things together.

Question Intake

Rick-
What intake are you using?
It looks like the throttle body mounts right to it.
Usually single intake is on passenger side, yours in on drivers side.
I noticed you moved your power steering res.
What size supercharger?
