I've got a metal bumper...not sure if it's a rear or if it'll fit an S4. Let me know if you need it and I'll check. Free if you cover shipping.

Hang in there. Rest up.

Poor car... people are stupid. Why doesn't she go and sneeze on the Mona Lisa while she's at it?

Thank the Lord you were in a 928. The only other safer vehicle, from your standpoint, would have been a Lincoln Navigator. That probably would have killed her. She should be thankfull for the flexibility and shock absorption of your rear end. Hope the damage is easily repairable and your neck does not trouble you for long.

Thanks Dave. I'll let you know. I'm hoping that insurance will take car of this and all I'll have to do is drop it off at the shop and insist on a good job, and genuine Porsche parts.

The car was T-boned back in 1990 and has a salvage title anyway. So I'm just hoping I'll get it back about as good as it was. I hadn't planned on ever getting rid of this one. It still runs like a top, even this AM. At this point, It may be best to just get a new bumper cover, bumper, bumperettes and a straight shell and just build another car with what I have, it's been hit so many times. :-)

She was in an early 90's Honda Accord, and I'm guessing that her Insurance Co. will total her car. I was amazed at the damage to her car (crumpled hood, radiator damage, etc. and had to be towed) and mine is still capable of BWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Proved that last night. The 928 is bult well, that is for sure.

Thanks guys!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, glad you are ok at least! Just let a good bodyshop knowledgeable about the 928 take a look at your car - a friend of mine in a S4 got rear-ended at low speed, and there were some damages under the rear bumper that cost quite a bit to fix.
Never mind, I once came across a 928S that apparantly had been nearly totalled four times (!) with more than 400k km on the clock, still running...

Glad you are ok JE!
Hopefully you won't be hurting worse in a couple days. I got rear ended at a light when I lived in Germany. I didn't think I was hurt until 2 days later when I could no longer turn my head.

Have you called your attorney? ;-)

Sorry about your car JE, but as others have said at least you are OK. Hell of a way to try and flare out the rear fenders though! Keep us updated.

Hey John, sorry to hear about this. That stinks!

You mentioned your neck took quite a shot. Were the 928 headrests not up to the job or was it the ricochet forward that tweaked the neck?

Thanks guys!

Abby, you are person #2 who has said this. If I'm OK, and my car repairs are covered, I have no qualms about just letting things be. I'll feel better about myself. Should things turn out differently, I'LL BE LOOKING TO HIRE THE JOHNNY CHOCHRAN Ambulance...errr...Law firm to sue somebody.

Bummer John... that really sucks. Hopefully the damage is cosmetic and doesn't involve the body pan. Also, seeing a chiropractor BEFORE you're immobilized with pain will net better results from the treatment...

It sucks we live in a society where more people don't do the right thing.

It just sounds like you took a pretty hard lick, and I would be cautious before sticking to honorable intentions. Hopefully your ok and that's that!

I was leaning forward at the time messing with the radio. Never saw or heard her coming when she hit me at about 30 MPH. From where her car stopped, the rear of my car was a good 1 1/2 928 car lengths ahead of her with the nose into the intersection. I was slamed back into the seat without warning, and ricoched around a few times. I'd say if I hadn't had Porsche seats or seats where the rest only came to the base of my neck, I would have definately broken my neck.

Thanks Dave,

I plan to look at it more this PM and take some pics. I'll post when I can.
