Don' t sign anything for at least a year !!! If your insurance company asks you to go to their doctor for an inspection be careful. Ask your attorney before you submit to such a "paid *****" checkup for your own insurance company if they can terminate your medpay if you refuse. It happened to me. My own insurance company, while I was collecting medpay for medical injuries from them while we waited to settle with the other guy's insurance company, demanded I visit their ***** doctor. After the visit, and despite three independent orthopedic surgeons' concurrance that I needed surgery, this ***** said I needed nothing and was not injured. My insurance cut off my medpay. My attorney threatened to sue them and it was finally reinstated, and a few weeks later my knee locked up and couldn't bend from the torn cartilage in it. My own freaking insurance company !!! &&#@%@*!**@!!
My case involved a rear ender by the other guy and I was also pushed into the intersection. $13,000 damage to my P car. No question of guilt.
Down the road that doctor's report compromised my negotiations with the other guy's insurance company. They are all in bed together. There is no Santa Claus or tooth fairy. Trust no one but yourself. No one.

... Just thankful you are OK , one friend of mine recently got hit( rather minor) while stopped at a light (not in his 928) cops arrive and haul him away for DUI he had had "two" drinks at his favorite bar just minutes before !!! Seems his friend the bartender overpours his cocktails. Which when I think about it takes away the intent of his "crime".

Don't kid yourself. You haven't lost 17 lbs, you just cleared some space for BIER come EURO 928 2005!
Also, don't be alarmed if for the next few months (at least) you involuntarily look into your rearview mirror *every* time you roll up to a red light etc. Animalistic survival instincts taking over..
Might also be a good time to mention that assuming a correct driving position - e.g. seatback fairly vertical instead of "comfortably reclined" - can make a big difference to ones future well-being in such an accident.
I'm still fighting the other guy's ins. co. for compensation, btw...patience, JE, patience...
Oh, last thing, "may she rest in peace" may have been premature. Graham procured a rear bumper cover and I'm awaiting an offer on the front fender, hood, etc. She may be resurrected yet! (Just to have a 928 for visiting dignataries, of course.)

I thought that we of German heritage are born with a 2nd stomach for Bier and that wieight is of no importance to the Teutonic ability to cosume mass quantities of Bier. ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Stated last night while being a passenger.
My seat is positioned so that my head fits under the roof of the car.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It's been two years hasn't it?
Hmmmmm......then I can get a similar picture of my thumb?

2nd stomach...ahh, yes, I think I've just discovered mine :-( Need to get away from the desk more...galley slaves at least had some exercise while they were at it...
Seating position: A strong argument for seeking out a non-sunroof 928 for the non-vertically challenged. (Thank you, Hans Stuck, for being the latter!)
No idea when BAD-Y 928 will be back on the road....but then, no idea when EURO 928 2005 will happen either...;-) Yeah, we want to see *your* thumb next to the indicated 180 mph :-) And we *will* have to do a few runs up and down A7 between Kassel and Hattenbacher Dreieck. Faster than the Nordschleife, just as scary/fun, totally legal, and *free* (except for fuel).

I wonder. It's a big freeking intersection. There was a line of stopped cars to my right (like 8 or so) she had to pass by just to hit me. WTF?

Hello-
I too am sorry about the misfortunate event. I hope you and the car are brought back to where you were prior to the accident (in that order).
Short story. I was at a standstill on the 5 FWY in S. Orange County in my girlfriend's Miata(now she will soon be my exwife - different story for different day). I was doing a good deed that day and was getting her new tires for her car. A lady driving a honda oddesey (sp?) minvan hit me at about 45 miles an hour. I saw her coming and knew she was not going to be able to stop. I moved to the left part of the fast lane - not necessarily the smartest move since the impact on the right two-thirds of the rear of my car launched my car into the carpool lane. I thought I was going to get T-boned. I didn't. The impact did cause some serious back pain and later the M.D.'s and chiropractor realized that I had suffered from cranial nerve palsy IV, basically a tramautized nerve of one of the oblique muscles controlling eye movement. It was caused by my head hitting the headrest. I felt 'crooked' so to speak and had some depth perception problems especially at night.
OK sorry, not so short a story. The point I am trying to make is that asymptomatic does not mean non-pathologic or mean that no medical intervention might be needed - i.e. deviation from normal function. I hope you do not need any treatment, but like a few of the other listers here mentioned, be safe and get a few opinions on any (and other possibly not-yet-discovered symptoms) from qualified medical personnel.
Best of luck and keep us posted.
Rich

John,
I've been away from the list for just one day and read this thread ... I'm so glad to hear you're OK. You are lucky to have a 928 to protect you, it is one well designed car and the seats do offer great protection. It sounds like your shark will live for another day, good news there too. There are just too many posts about 928s becoming the target of uncareful drivers.
Thilo, I hope you gets that visitor's shark ready ... I look forward to another trip to Stuttgart, and would be willing to keep the battery charged for you.
Take care and keep us posted.

Hey John, sorry to hear about the accident and glad that you're ok. Sounds like some good legal/medical advice that's worth following. So now we're going to have a slimmer, 'shadow of former self' at SITM? Don't worry, I know where that 17 lbs you lost went....scale gave me a clue!
Let's hope you're able to bring the car back..stay well,
Jim
