I genuinely appreciate your efforts, Bill.

The control that comes with a smooth throttle is overrated anyway

And, Jim...this is a family site...keep that short shaft business to yourself, please.

Would you rather be short changed and shafted, or short shafted?

I think you are having the same throttle blip as I am. You have to push kind of hard at first to get the throttle wheel to 180 degrees. I will post a pic of what is wrong since I don't think I can explain it very well.

Yep I left some trenches in Heinrich's driveway and scared some of his neighbors because I had a stiff throttle. Shot out of his drive in reverse like a rocket.

Bill,

Unless my eyes deceive me, it appears you have created not just one but two of those nasty V thingees where your hoses pass over the radiator. Whatever you do, DO NOT tell Mark K!!!!

Tom:

The car goes faster the more V thingees I have, AND it gets better mileage.

I see ALL!!!!(you cant hide a suspected venturi behind the "V" )

first of all, there is no venturi, as the two hoses appear to come from the KN hidden below, an up through two tubes each either entering and exiting the stock above radiator bell mouthed (squished) inlets and on to that black "T" inlet merger. even if the tubes from the filter went to the face of the above radiator inlet, it still wouldnt qualify as a venturi, as it has to go , big, small and then big again.

its kind of messy looking ,but bill does get a little better flow to the "t" where it then goes to the MAF. hey, if it works great. be interestig to see if one of them (one set of tubes works better. In fact, it may be better to get a larger tube and squish it over the radiator using the hole for the stock inlet, and cut out the stock inlet. maybe there is some 4 " tubing that you can find that can be formed with a heat gun. then, neck it down to the MAF when its time.

Awesome project though.

glad it puts down the POWER!!

what class are you racing in now???

Darn it all, Bill, I told you not to tell him, but nooo, you had to go ahead and start the venturi wars again!

Mark,

Look at the two tubes where they cross over the rad and go through the the old stock ducts. There's a 4" diameter coming in, squeezing down to about 1.25 x 6, and expanding again to 4". Or about 12.6 sqin coming in, dropping to 7 or 8 at the throat of the venturi, and expanding again to 12.6 sqin at the outlet. Sounds like a venturi to me!

Tom Cloutier; that's Mr. Venturi to you! Cheers dude.

Update: I'm not on the dyno--but I did take a ride around the block--with wet streets. Its still to early--but its a monster. I've got bad gas in it--i pinged on the dyno last week and i pinged again today--need to fill the tank with some good gas. knock sensors are new, so nothing there to worry about.

so glad bill came by today, THANKS! we (he!) figured out a wiring issues with his JDS so we got the idle smoothed out. still needs to be put on the dyno though to really see what we have got here. stay tuuuuuuuned.

Yeah, JDS Porsche to the rescue! Seth's car had a hunting idle problem. The JDS Spanner read "Ground fault in full load contact" and the Spanner also would quit during the idle adaptation routine without completing it. Pretty quickly we agreed there probably was a swapped wire in the special harness adapter Seth had asked be made so he wouldn't have to chop into the harness. Sure enough, multimeter testing confirmed the idle and WOT wires were switched at a splice. Swapped the wires and all better. No hunting idle, idle adaptation ran fine, tests of throttle position switch AOK. We lit up the tires going around the block a few times and put it to bed for the night. A few tidy up things tomorrow (mount gages, install my throttle cable bracket, hook up power to IC pump) and Seth can take her home! Not sure if it can be dyno'd tomorrow or not.

Thanks again to John Speake for the JDS Spanner. Glad I bought one!
