Brian:

Clue me into some local roads for doing a relatively unfettered demo, even if it's just a 0-60 run, and you'll get your ride!

Bill, you may have to move "Sharks in the Park" to the dragstip this year!

Brian,
It went from 275 to 432 for an apples to apples comparasion ... WOW. Once we went to 3rd gear, it pulled a high of 462 ish. with less than 7 lbs of boost.

So far, no SC engined vehicle has made it to the 200 mph club ... maybe this year??? George??? Andy??? Anyone???

It is, and it "is" still going one, a great event, and we will do this again, faster and better the next time out! We will need to find another four victims again ....

We are very pleased with the results, and most importantly, I want to thank Tom, Marcia, Susan, Scott, Austin, Matt, Ross, Julio, Al, Louis, and many others for all the hard work in making this event happen! Andy and Michael did, and still are, doing a great job helping guide the final installs, and in some cases doing quite a bit of work!

Hats off to Andy for designing and bringing to market a commercial level SC kit with exceptional power at low boost for reasonable price!

And lets not forget the victims and their helpers, or maybe we should call them, enablers .... whom without this never would have happened.

4-6 lbs of boost, 400 rwhp ... now we are making progress!

Hey Guys, Man I wanted to be there but had a couple of issues that needed addressing. Bill, That is a sweet improvement on only 5psi. I am envious I assure you. Did anyone take any pics of the intake removal or crap underneath?

Bill
I have several local "country" roads that I use around here...it would be harder in your area with the hills...but over here its bone flat all the time! I know of some other roads near Tracy that should work well too!

The best road is up in Sac on Wed nights....its only 1/4 mile long & you don't have to watch for cops!

Marc
Great event!!!!!!!! Everyone put in alot of work & the dyno doesn't lie! On to the 200 club.... George should be close with the 2.20 rear end, Andy has the right gearing too....We shall see in the upcoming open road season! BTW I do have a radar gun?

Also what did the white car pull on Tom's dyno?

white car = 486 rwhp at 6000 rpm, stock intake, NA!

Top speed estimated at 231 mph.

Hmm ... radar gun, open roads, 928ers with radios.......I have a vision

Again, this was an awesome event, even if my fingers are going to take a week to recover from all the wrenching. And Marc says they will do it again and better! That should NOT be missed. I will be among the 928Supermodel alumni who will attend and stick my hands in as needed. I still can't imagine what 465RWHP is like, but I'm starting to get a pretty good idea. Even with 334RWHP and 350 torque at 2500RPM, I definitely need some fatter wheels and tires...maybe I'll stick on the Forgelines from my 79 on the rear and head to the dragstrip.

I dropped by today and Derek's install (Autorotor, IC, 7 lbs) was wrapping up and heading to the dyno, while Seth's (Jag-Eaton, IC, 7lbs) was getting close too, slowed down by Seth's incessant cleaning and polishing. Eh, just kidding, but he did clean a lot of parts today. I turned wrenches again for a short while but had to leave.

Rich, you are right, this year Sharks in the Park should have a burnout contest (longest, smokiest, noisiest, and most 360 donuts before both rear tires blow), drifting competition and 0-100-0 shoot-out. Actually, I think we'll just stand around and go blind looking at the reflections in Seth's tribute to Metal Magic.

Does anyone know if Jim "James Smith" Hurtt is safely back in the PNW with his 462rwhp GT?

I would like to report back what all those horsies feel like when being used but I really didn't get to use them on my return trip. I wanted to get close to home before doing too much and as luck would have it I hit heavy rain from Ashland to Portland. I can tell you that with 417lbs of torque, in 5th gear doing 80, I can keep you glued to your seat and hit 120
very fast. At this point my co pilot has an opinion of my intelligence...

By Weed I lost my power steering. I pulled into the local rest stop and as I got out I saw liquid running out from under the car. It was gas. As I rush to the trunk to grab rags and tools I see that I had been losing gas all the way into the rest stop. As some may know I do not consider gas as my friend Anyhoo, the return line on the fuel regulator had come off, not the easiest hose to get to but doable. Hop in the Shark and fire it up and my 3/4 plus tank of gas is gone! With fingers crossed and gripping the wheel we make it to Ureka on fumes.
And speaking of gas, I got 24 mpg on the way home!! It would seem I am getting better mileage with the SC!!??

What an experience this get together was! I got to put faces to names, Anders, Seth, Steve, Derek, Bill, Andy, Mike, John, Dennis, Jessa, Nicole, Tom & Marsha and many more. A great group of people.
Thanks a ton for hosting and throwing the event Mark & Susan.
Andy, you were being pulled a 100 different ways over the week end and handled it as well as anyone could.

To the event and all the people involved

James "fireball" Smith..... you are so lucky that a stray spark did not light that bomb. Good to hear that all is well and WOW the power ! That could have been very ugly. Note to self ....check the fuel lines after major work !!

Sounds like you have a monster on your hands Jim. I can speak from experience, make sure you have it pointing straight before you nail it!

Thank gaaawd you caught the fuel leak!
When you get the time go back and install crimped fuel lines. Clamps loosen and will pinch the rubber to the point it will tear if they are tightened too much. They also wont pass tech. insp. at a track if they are really looking.

Come October( Sharktoberfest) there will have to be a Supercharged corral for all these boosted cars about now! Ive said it before and i will gain, there has never been so much advancement in the HP dept for the 928 like there has been over the last year or 2.
Its about time some of these cars get recognized in national Porsche/Performance mags

I would have made it up to DEVEK for the weekend myself but Easter was not a good time to be leaving family behind here. Plus ive been flying my a$$ off.

So whats the total on "supermodel" installations now?

How about boosted 928s, period?

Jim:

Glad to hear you made it with what could have been a major mishap managed successfully down to a minor one. Good work!

This was an incredibly ambitious weekend and Andy deserves MAJOR props for managing the 4-ring circus that doing 4 installs at once was going to be, especially with novice boostards like me. He literally jumped from one car to the next, switching from one task to the next, over and over and over, without losing his cool at all. Amazing!

Yeah, I have been getting 30 MPG crusing at 70MPH on the dash computer. Not sure how the computer measures gas flow, but my guess is that it is no longer right. The 36% increase in fuel economy my computer is reporting when crusing must be wrong. But we can hope that Andy has created a monster with a Prius economy mode when not on boost.

Jim, scan in and post your dyno chart when you get a chance. I'm very interested in how curves compare, Autorotor + IC vs. Jag-Eaton. I have 350 ft-lbs of torque right at the bottom of the curve, and although it's not close to your 400+ torque, the car rockets off the line and will destroy my rear tires in no time.
