Hello! (new 944 owner!)
Quite a day today....
Fixed the boot catches (you could pull the boot open!!!!!), now locks tight and opens fine from the key fob
Installed a new pump for the windscreen washers
Drove to my garage and got cam timing/balance shaft belts changed, full service, slight engine tune up, wheels aligned, etc
Got her a massive a clean up and valet done, looks sparkling and almost brand new
Get home and cooling system hose decides to spring a leak and spew out coolant water everywhere (see my other topic! bah!), cut end off hose and refitted ... now im off to bed

was just wondering if anyone has tried a brace bolted between the C pillars where the top bolt for the rear seat belts bolt in. does it/would help with rigidity?

Bought mine a few weeks ago. See pic to left. So far I have done the following:
-Full tune up (Plugs, air filter, fuel filter, cap, rotor, fuel injection service)
-completely disassembled the drivers door lock set up cleaned and lubed
-removed warped dash cap
-removed both hatch locks and cleaned and lubricated them
-replaced rear hatch bulb
-disassembled the electric hatch switch cleaned contacts and reinstalled, now works
-thouroughly degreased engine above and below in a attempt to identify all leaks. (found water pump leaking, cork gasket on back of head leaking)
-sandblasted ashtray, 22 years of nasty goo..
-cleaned about 15 pounds of sand an dirt from battery tray drain area
-cleaned and lubed all hinge points of the headlight mechanism's
Of course after my inspection found alot of work to be done additionally however since I bought the car for only $1400 I am not complaining.

Nice day outside. Put the battery back in. Checked fluids and tire pressure. Washed and waxed it. Then went for a long drive (first time since I stored it in Oct for the winter).

I snuck out of work and washed it this afternoon, twas a beautiful day to do that! Also picked up the new CV axle from the parts store to replace my clicking time bomb. Just waiting on the stage8 bolts to arrive and I'm in business. Got a new thermoswitch too, proper 2 prong one instead of the late thermo.

Took my new to me 86 944 cab out for a spin, after spending mucho $$$ getting it ready to drive (all fluids, filters, tune up, brakes, suspension, tires, rad and all accessories with it)
This morning I took it on its longest drive since I have owned it. I drove it to work. 100k one way. I plan to drop it off at another mechanic very close to work and hopefully establish a nice contact to have the car worked on while I'm at work. (he does loaners for larger jobs so I won't get stranded)
I am looking at a new clutch and exhaust system.
Sure felt like it was worth all my efforts while I was cruising around town doing some afterwork errands with the top down!
