Finally had some time to work on my new-to-me 924S. Tried changing brake pads, found that one of the caliper pistons was seized, so that simple project escalated into a ghetto caliper rebuild. Got it moving smoothly again with help from my bench vise and a long tube for leverage. Cleaned it up, re-assembled, and put it back on the car - stops sooo much better (obviously). Unfortunately I need to do it all again once my rebuild kit shows up since the rubber boot on the piston was hosed. Should be easier this time, at least.

Almost got the new engine mounts installed. Removing the old ones wasn't too bad, just required a lot of patience and tons of very short wrench turns. I'm having a lot of trouble jamming the flat rubber side parts of the mount into the side of the cross member, though I didn't have anything on hand really suitable to pry with. Was tempted to try shaving a few millimeters off, but ended up giving up for the night when I realized it was past midnight. Any suggestions for a tool to use for this part (before I go shopping)?
update: Success! 5" pry bar made it pretty easy to get the mounts into position. I foolishly bought the cheap URO brand mounts without reading opinions on it (should have known better - the one thing of theirs I got for my 986 has been crap), but at least now I know all the tricks for next time.

Just back from a round trip (Hadley, MA to Eastern Tennessee). Beautiful late fall winter---no rain, no snow---even some time with the roof down! 1990 Baltic Blue Cab performed flawlessly---except on Thanksgiving Day, near Dorrance PA, I blew the throttle body coolant inlet hose fitting. Scared hell out of me as I was going down that I-81N slope just outside of Hazleton....white "smoke" (steam) everywhere.....what concerned me most was that it was coming from the exhaust. Worst case scenario I imagined was a head gasket. Pulled over at a truck stop....let everything cool down, "popped" the fitting back on, topped off the reservoir with purchased coolant....continued flawless journey home (whew!). This week, I have a coolant flush and oil change planned---wash and wax and put away for the winter. Gotta look at a permanent fix for that stupid plastic inlet fixture.

Started tearing the front of the engine apart to remove the oil pump drive sleeve since it has a leak. The crankshaft key was being stubborn and it was rather cold so didn’t get it completely torn apart just yet...

yesterday, but whipped up a new larger "inlet plenum" for my supercharger to support more inlet flow than i'll ever need...but i know it won't be the restriction down the line.

Finally got around to finishing a prototype for a stock-feeling shifter linkage. It's a 3D printed cartridge with needle bearings and hardened washers inside. Plug and play on a stock linkage, zero slop and a more solid feel. I've made a few dozen of an earlier iteration, but they left the bearings exposed at their edges. This design keeps the grease in and the grime out.
