Moved my 951 under its own power for the first time in two months, after replacing clutch, oil pan gasket, motor mounts, con rod bearings, and a few minor front suspension bits.

Engine started first time! (Give or take a fuel pump fuse that I forgot to replace.)

And folks, I can now tell you from personal experience that it is possible to do all those jobs on axle stands on the street...

Edit: But my reverse gear has gone missing, seem to be getting 5th instead. Hmmm.

good strategy, leaving the car up on stands will make all the would-be thieves of London's underbelly think that the car's already been worked over.

An extension of my usual anti-theft strategy, which is to always leave several tools, plus a few minor engine parts, on the passenger seat and in the rear. ;-)

Nice picture...congrats on the kid. Clever. Especially like the stripe down the hood. Haven't seen that often on a 944.

Finally finished the turbo repair job I started way too long ago on this car.
New billet compressor wheel in what is essentially a 924 Carrera GT turbocharger, new orings as it was sweating oil at some connections, repaired the wastegate cracks and downpipe crack as well.

Its now back in one piece and I started it this evening, will only drive it tomorrow as it was raining cats and dogs here so no point taking it out the garage.


Also equipped it with the staggered fresh 16" phone dials on new Toyo T1Rs.
Cant wait to drive it

Looking gorgeous on new wheels..but unfortunately the freshly rebuilt turbo has shat its seals in the first drive and oil has gone into the intake...making it run like crap and eventually in 2-3cyls.
Oh well..time to take that turbo off again.

october in california means it's still 90 degrees out
so i went for a nice relaxed drive up "Mt. Baldy".
had to take it easy, lots of hikers + bicyclists along the road.

only 45mph or so most of the way but there were two tunnels requiring open windows and downshifting , it was too dark to see the speedo in there

some REALLY tight/steep hairpin turns requiring 1st gear (!). or maybe that was just the 5000ft altitude choking out the NA power

Manual sunroof conversion! SO satisfying to pull several pounds of never-working motors, cables, and other crap out of the 951. I want to pick up a manual sunroof header panel and the rear headliner piece to complete the conversion the right way, but have some other projects that'll take priority for the time being.

Time to go research what it'll take to reindex the torsion bar and get the rear end up to a non-stupid ride height, and to figure out what kind of springs would be the best fit for what I want!
