If you're going to all this effort to have a new looking engine bay please keep it OEM..no red stuff.
It's a constant struggle - Stay stock or make improvements.
Red hoses scream aftermarket, but a nice red cam tower could look factory.

I like the idea of modifying the car within the spirit of what the original 944 designers and engineers had in mind (if accountants and the 911 didn't get in the way). This frees me from worrying about staying stock but also keeps me from over-modifying and completely changing the character of the car.
I want reliability and I want my work to last a while. So I upgraded to silicone hoses.
I did the venturi delete and ditched the hard lines under the intake to eliminate SIX connections which means six less potential leaks. I also used a brass vacuum manifold on the intake so I could eliminate three vacuum T's (six more connections eliminated). I decided to add the AOS vent valve which was on the later Turbos.
I upgraded to the M030 968 sway bars and yellow Konis, but I'm keeping the '86 control arms because I like the wheel offset (switching to phone dials soon).
Hopefully I'm all caught up on maintenance now and I can just enjoy the car!
Got my mate to tow me to my mechanic -- 220 km trip...
Then we inspected the clutch. It would not disengage.
Apparently, the pin that holds the clutch fork was missing its retaining screw and was halfway out of the bellhousing. Luckily it went straight back and all was fixed within 5 minutes!
I'm so grateful that I didn't have to pay for taking half the car apart just to get to the clutch!
Today is one lucky day!
Installed new LCD screen for the clock. Much easier to do than I thought it would be. Also, replaced the cigarette lighter bulb and glove box bulbs with LED's, now finally everything from the gauges to the dome lights are all LED (except the TCU) and all work as they're supposed to.
Re-tensioned the running and balance belts finally, and they were pretty loose, so it's a good thing I did! I noticed the mention in the Conti belt kit that the tension should be set at a temperature somewhere around 60 or higher, but I don't think the car would have been happy running another 3 months on an indeterminate age timing belt and original 32-year-old water pump.
Found out the PS pump is missing about half the mounting hardware (because went the hell wouldn't it be?), so a trip to the local hardware store is on the schedule for tomorrow.
Thanks, I thought so too! The local autox is trying to draw a more family oriented crowd and I thought the kids would love it. They're googly eyes too....mid corner they slide and look the opposite direction lol
I got them at Michael's craft store for about $5. I drove home from autox with the up and the looks I got were hilarious!
Drove the 931 to work as usual. i'm getting used to this car so well that the red one seems strange now with its precise shifter and honestly everything else as well
Got the magazine today, will enjoy a glass of 65° home brewed while reading it.
