Brake lines
check out classic tube in NY. I got mine done recently for all the fuel and brake lines in stainless for about 600.00. Mine’s an 83 so now they have the patterns to do possibly your 84.

It's alive!
Finished the timing belt/ balance shaft belt/ rollers/ water pump/ hoses/ belts project that I started last weekend. Being new to the 944 world I wasn't sure how tough a job it would be, but it wasn't too bad. Took my time, caught some mistakes, and generally didn't rush things. The Arnnworx tools are worth their weight in gold, by the way!
Now to figure out why suddenly all the idiot lights are on- low brake pad, low brake fluid, oil, etc. Levels are all fine, and everything popped on all at once, so I'm guessing it's something in the dash cluster. Maybe I didn't get all the connectors tight when I fixed the odometer.
Sure was fun to finally drive the thing though!

Made my own line. I bought a bunch of fittings to find what fit. I spent something like $35. Most of the stuff I didn't use, so it probably was $5 worth of actual items on the car.
Drove it around all day. A lot of bugs to work out, like dash lights don't exist. Heat only comes on when I drive it hard. Alignment is wacky.
But it runs and drives and that's the hardest part over.
Is there an easy way to find out what size aftermarket torsion bars are on a car without taking everything apart? (I'm pretty sure the answer is no, there's no way) I'm sure they aren't stock, but I don't know what they are... It doesn't feel that much different than the 84 does with 30's.

Before
After!
Gave the bonnet a final polish after my home respray... I'm really not sure it was worth the effort, given the very mediocre result, but at least I no longer have clear coat flaking off all over the place. Used 2k rattle cans, on the bonnet and also a couple of areas on the nose panel, and left rear three-quarter panel where a previous respray was starting to peel away. I should have painted the whole nose panel, rather than just bits of it, as the colour match isn't 100%... good enough for the bonnet to look OK colour-wise next to other panels, but not to conceal a repainted section within a panel. On the pic, the difference looks worse than it usually does to the naked eye, but it's quite bad.
On reflection: almost, but not quite, a total waste of time. I really think that a vinyl wrap for the bonnet would have been a better option if I didn't want to pay for a proper respray. Which I didn't.

looks better!

Thanks! Yeah, it's better, but it was a lot of work… I now have a greater appreciation for why a good respray costs good money.
I had also resprayed the headlight covers with 1k paint a couple of weeks prior, and interestingly the 1k paint turned out better than the 2k. I put that down half to dumb luck, and half to just doing a better job on laying the paint down on the smaller covers. But it does tell me that using 2k paint doesn't *guarantee* a better finish!

After coming in 3rd in my first ever race with NASA at Summit Point on the 21st April, I have decided to add lightness...

Three Wheelin'
Spent the day doing paint correction. I got some Adams correcting polish and some Revive hand polish and the hand buffing pads for each polish. I went over the car with the correcting polish and then again with the revive hand polish. I then gave her a coat of Zymol red wax. Really happy with Adam's polishes. Easy to use and got great results.

Got new tires installed- wow, what a difference! Let's just say the 1995 date code tires were juuuuuust a bit sketchy. Re-tightened both accessory drive belts, changed out the upper radiator hose, and did an oil change. Drives GREAT now with new/ correctly sized tires!
Still have to chase down the idiot light issue- sometimes everything is on, sometimes it's just the low oil pressure light (though the pressure reads fine).
I'm getting there...the big stuff is done. Now I can enjoy the car while I get the little stuff figured out.

Check/replace your oil sender and Check the wiring to it. Under throttle my light would come on as the engine torqued over slightly and pushed the wire on the dummy light side of the sender. Oil pressure read fine since that terminal is on the other side of the sender.
