With the AFR gauge installed i went for a test drive on the nearby autobahn.
The setup is the same, 2.0L S2 turbo engine, K27 turbo pushing 0.9bar.
I had the GPS set to check speed, AFR calibrated and half of fuel tank of 100 OCT finest

I'm shocked how well the CIS works and how spot on the CIS was set.

Starting from my garage and driving to the autobahn i've noted the following:
-When engine is cold it idles at 11AFR.
-As the engine warms up the idle AFR leans to 13.4AFR where it stays with a warm engine.
-At cruising, so no boost or just city drivig whithout any real boost going on the AFR values stay around 13-14AFR.

On the highway i've noted the following:
-Cruising at 120km/h (no boost required) gives an AFR of 13.5
-Any increase in boost will enrichen the mixture
-When it makes 0.5bar the AFR is around 12.2
-As boost gets past 0.5 bar the mixture drops to around 11.2
-When max boost is going on and engine is at near to full chat (above 5000RPM) AFR drops to 10.7 or even 10.4

I wanted to record some vids but recording is really not safe while driving, especially that at 5000RPM in 5th i was past the 200Km/h mark.

A great day driving the 924.

Looked at my cv bolts. Realized they were stripped and it was time to order new ones...

While the valve cover is off, I'll send it out for powder coating. I think I'll do a black crinkle finish with red Porsche letters. Might as well make it look good before it goes back on! Everything else inside looks like it's in great shape for 173K miles.
I plan on doing this to the cab I'm picking up on Saturday. You might want to consider changing those fuel lines out when you get the chance so you can really have peace of mind!

I don't want to put words in his mouth, and perhaps I misunderstood, but Travis at Rennbay told me the fuel lines on the S2 did not have the problems of earlier 944's and would not need replacing unless obviously distressed.

Today I rotated the engine a few times to prevent the rings from sticking to the cylinder walls since my car will be stationary for a while.

I also got my flywheel off so I can get it resurfaced.

A month or two ago I did these things:

I removed the front brakes, control arms, and sway bar so I can replace the ball joints, all the rubber bits, put on new tire rod ends, new struts/springs, and paint the control arms/dust shields.

These shocks definitely need to be replaced...

My old engine support bar that I thought I'd never use again came in handy when I needed something to support the engine so I can remove the crossmember to clean it and replace the engine mounts.

Draining the power steering fluid so I could remove the rack while attached to the crossmember didn't go as planned, so I had to abort and support the crossmember with a jack stand.

A few more fun pictures of my current situation:

These axles are shot.

Parts scattered everywhere under my car. I'll never get this thing back together....

She's rough. Didn't pay a whole lot for it , so I'll spend the extra cash I had saved up and go thru everything. More pics to come!

You might want to replace the caster blocks and bolt to the 968 style since you have everything out...

That's news to me. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

R&R'd the oil filter console (new seals) and replaced the oil sender and both oil cooler lines with the new steel braided Lindsey 3x+ ones. Attempted to install that tasty looking 3x cooler, but it is going to require way more mods than I expected. It doesn't clear the AC line bracket to the condenser on the radiator side and rubs the front bumper skin on the front side, so is going to need some more "massaging" before it finally nestles in to place.

Finished the lower balancing rod seal. Now just to find a correct shim for the oil cooler. It didn't have one on there and it doesn't really flush to the housing. Yet didn't leak like that before.

Bolted in my Redline Roll/Harness bar. It is very nicely made, fits perfectly, and went in easily.

I got this for use as a stout harness bar and I hope for some noticeable chassis stiffening. It's certainly not a full cage, and I don't expect it to be, but I do think it would provide a some extra protection as well.

I'm shooting for a Club Sport clone with the mods to this car, and as this bar bolts in, it fits the bill very nicely. One day the back seat will come out, and I'll extend the hatch floor, re-do the interior with a nice light-weight carpet kit, and other CS bits.
