Went for a 5 hour drive through the old hwy and up to Julian and back. Love the mountain roads. Got to see some snow/ice and some beautiful scenery. My little NA was quite capable with keeping up with the evo 9 my friend was driving along with all the other cars with us. I also made an aero try from the bumper to the radiator so the air would flow through the radiator not down under it. My car didn't have one when I bought it. This drive really made me want to start my suspension. The other 4 cars that were driving with me all had their suspension done while I am running stock 80's stuff. I seriously can't wait for that.

Plasti-dipped the lower plastic pieces and the 968 door handles in white. Put on the passenger side 968 door handle. It's binding up so I gotta take it back apart to see what the problem is.
I'll install the other handle and the lower plastic pieces to see how I like them. If I don't like them, I'll peel the plasti-dip off.

Sold my Gemballa cab. I'm back down to one 944. I'll be in my dd 944 for 944Fest this year.
I'm a bit sad to see it go, but I was using it less and less, as I didn't like leaving the top down in a parking lot, and putting the top up and down every time I park it (manual roof) Made the car less usefull, not to mention the car wasn't insured for everyday driving so I no longer enjoyed taking it to work. Not to worry too much, as I still drive a 944 everyday, so I'll only miss driving with the topdown once in awhile. My next car to replace my daily driver 944 will likely be an S2 or turbo.

My 944 has been in storage almost 10 years
I am new to this forum. I got my 1986 944 out of storage a couple weeks ago Put in a new battery and some fresh gas and it fired up on the second try after my son entered thru the rear hatch because the drivers door wouldn't open and the passenger door only opened from the inside. I found a trick to getting the stuck drivers door open ( you cant remove the inner door card with the door shut!) By removing the screw just below the interior lock stem and popping loose the two press fit connectors below I could get at the lock mechanism and trigger the door to open.
I had done a fresh (27,000 miles) salvage yard engine after a timing belt tooth shear on the original NA motor at 173,000 miles of faithful service. I installed a new clutch, flywheel, water pump, rebuilt alternator and half shafts before putting it into storage. Now its time to do some body repairs and modifications (wide body and nose and rear facelift in preparation for adding electric traction motors.

last night I changed my sparkplugs and did some more work on the leather of my sports seats. tonight I'll do some more work on them and all going well I'll seal them and hopefully tomorrow i'll fit the front ones.
tonight I'll also swap my tired ali wheel nuts to new steel ones. tomorrow I'll top up the tank, check my tyre pressures and hit the road for a week away from work and the computer. heading south to a lake with my g/f and dog in tow.
