It's Grey. Not as dark as Slate, but darker than the other option of Mode grey. This is just the BSB matt basecoat, once it is fully lacquered (tomorrow) the colour will come through much better.
With chrome trim and fuch wheels we think this is really going to make a statement. Hope you like it so far?

I'm sorely tempted to go no further with this resto after the painting and just put the shell in my living room to look at. It would be way more emtertaining than Corrie ( it s a UK TV Programme ) !

The car looks great and I love that colour even though I was voting for the orange. Is lacquer the same as clear coat? is there a reason to lacquer the parts that will rarely be seen?

For anyone who is confused "Laquer" is the British term for acrlylic urethane clear coat(actually generic term for clearcoat of any form) as opposed to the Laquer which is american for Acrylic Laquer topcoat or clearcoat commonly used throughout the 70's and 80's and turned to cracks and dust before the type of base and acrylic urethane clear we currently use.Be it water born base or solvent born base the clear coat(Laquer)is the top coat being referred to by Colin and it is urethane not "Laqeur".
Not really an attempt to correct Colin just to clarify.

Patience my good friend, we have to let this paint harden off for a couple of days before we can risk masking it off to paint the outside. Tomorrow we plan to load the shell off the spit and onto a rolling frame, then back into the booth to paint the outside. The doors and bonnet had their second coat of primer this afternoon so we will be able to paint them shortly afterwards.

Shell off the rotisserie & mounted onto a carriage frame, painted interior masked off to keep clean. Primed outer panels were dry flatted before the shell was taped up in the booth for paint. By the end of play Neil had cleaned the shell with panel wipe and laid on a couple of layers of colour basecoat.
