Shell has now been lacquered, still in the oven baking off, so full gloss outside photos later today when it is cool enough to enter.

Fine looking 'Alloy' (how's that ) lid, nice craftsmanship...Blighty has always had some excellent panel beaters.
That gray is a sharp color, seems to really change with the light.

I was lucky enough to see the shell today while picking up my C2S from its service; it is truly fantastic. The two qualities that are difficult to see from the photos are that it has a surprising warmth and a phenomenal depth. It's going to look amazing when finished.

No, but it could have been. Once the decision not to paint it Sepia Brown has been made, owner Dave immediately suggested that we paint it grey. Of course once everyone questioned his decision the big debate about alternatives started until he finally came back to the same conclusion. First thoughts were to go slate grey until we learned that Mr Becham had bought a Steve McQueen replica 911 in this colour, so then it narrowed to two alternatives: grey beige and mode grey. Once we did the spray-outs neither colour really inspired, so Dave left the final decision of which grey to me. We experimented with a few alternatives with slight influence by the availability of the optimal solvent base coat colour from our Lechler paint scheme. My final shot was to choose a colour which related to the original sepia brown and also to the one of Dave's other cars, so this grey seemed appropriate as it has the barest blend of red in the mix that hints towards brown in certain light.

Quick update after walking through the shop this afternoon.
Body panels are now in preparation for painting apart from the engine lid which we will paint last. On the subject of which I managed to weigh the bare lid and an old painted steel lid, interesting result even allowing for the weight of the paint on the Bahama Yellow steel version.
