Sepia isn't for everybody .. but it's suddenly gotten very popular in the u.s. collector market, probably because so many of the original cars were painted some other color so there aren't any nice factory examples left. In 1998 I found a perfect, low mileage, one owner '69 Sepia brown soft window targa with factory rear seat delete for $15K in Seattle when I was up there and my buddy in California ended up buying it based on my description of condition .. it was showroom fresh, a REAL find .. and when it arrived, unloaded from the truck, his wife took one look at the color and said 'sell it' .. and turned on her heel and walked back in the house! ... and of course, when we both saw it on the lawn in Monterey for sale for $125K three years ago he was gutted ... but you gotta live with it, so I say paint it Slate ...

Final stages of shell preparation now, Rob applied water-based spray sealer to the engine bay, tank support area and interior floor sections. The sealer goes on green but dries light grey.

Or Grand Prix grey. Or maybe Guards grey? Speed grey is very nice, but Continental grey would be absolutely spectacular. In the Irish theme, how about Chartreuse grey? That's awesome but maybe an acquired taste for some? Still can't decide? Simple, let's do it Sepia grey. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You're not completely sold on the grey, are you Dave? Don't worry, colour decisions are impossible and you're in good company with ourselves, Marc & me are still debating the right colour for our new 9m93 Speedster S:

All joking aside, work marches on as the exterior panels are dry flatted before their second primer coat. The first primer coat is left for a couple of weeks before the flatting you see here, then a second coat is left another week before flatting. This ensures that any sinkage is contained within the primer coats and we have a perfectly flat finish for the top coat.

This is a hard one, I'm thinking not Sepia for two reasons, it s not a Sports Car Colour and I'm not doing it for pure investment, I'm looking on holding the car til it s 50 years old at least. Slate looks a bit dark and dull to me. Meteor probably too modern.
Help folks, we ve only a week left til D Day !

Really enjoying this thread and seeing all the pro work going into this build.
Personally I have always been fond of silvers, especially on these early 911s with all the bright work. By the time this car was born, Porsche had an array of silvers which you can choose from. Silvers are also less polarizing to potential customers when it comes time to sell.
Silver also lends itself to work with many interior colors. Classic black leather seats with black/grey hounds tooth cloth inserts and black carpets, maroon leather seats/accents with black carpets, mahogany brown leather with black and so on.
Have fun,

Dave, I previously sent you many links by PM to various colour options, but seeing as you've opened up a clean canvas, so to speak, on this topic, I thought I'd post some helpful photos ....
I like the blue one ....

Left the PU sealer to dry overnight, today has painted a thin etch over the exposed metal followed by three more coats of primer, left to flash off the solvents then baked. We'll not leave the car over the long holiday weekend before masking off the outer panels and preparing the underside, interior, boot and engine bay for colour.
Need that final decision on Tuesday next, Dave!
