In the 4RS, it makes a difference in the amount of bass at certain revs and throttle, otherwise it makes little or no difference.

For those that have had their cars for more than 5 minutes, and have WP: front dash being alcantara been a problem so far? There has been lots of doomsaying about how that will get dirty quickly and be impossible to clean. Just wondering how people are faring.

I bought an Alcantara phone case to experiment. It has held up amazingly well. I looked up videos, if dash, etc ever gets matted down and dirty they make special brushes and soap that will “fluff” it up again. I saw some amazing results on steering wheels especially. I wouldn’t worry too much.

P and F, I order as much Alcantara that's available. It's cool and exotic. Except the shifter and steering wheel - those I do in leather. A damp microfibre cloth is all you really need.

This is from my 2016 Boxster Spyder with 20k hard daily driver miles. Never touched up or washed.

I think you are fine regarding the stitching. Congrats!

@Adrift

No issues. No need to worry here.

The red lint brush is an excellent little tool to keep in the glove box, but I haven’t had to utilize it. (I keep one inside the glove box of all convertibles). The Race-Tex Weissach dashboard remains free of any specs of dirt/lint, and I have 1,409 miles.

I have it on my 675LT dash and it hasn't been a problem at all. Vacuum for dust and/or wipe it gently with a lightly dampened with water microfibre cloth and life is good.

The problem with the stitching was that fabric border they put on it, not the stitching. It looked ok when I saw one but still not something I think I want, looked kind of cheap. Maybe it would grow on me.

You be good. It’s a Porsche proprietary synthetic designed for this purpose.

17K on my Spyder with RaceTex seats, wheel, center console, etc…looked as delivered on trade

Occasional damp rag all it needs.

Don’t have greasy kid paws or eat McDonalds in it.

The 718 rs are really gruff down low and especially from a start.
I am pretty sure the spyder is louder than the 4rs in Bimini mode.
I accidentally got up to 8k but mostly keep it 3-7k range
It is really loud, but peaky, not a constant drone of noise.
you can also drive it gingerly to keep the noise levels reasonable.
I recommend the base audio, had Bose in 4rs and standard in spyder and can’t tell difference at all

Just noticed that it seems Sypder RS use a different steering rack than GT4 RS (unlike Spyder and GT4). They have different ratios...
GT4 RS is 16.9 -> 12.25 vs Spyder RS is 17.0 -> 11.3.
Wonder what this means.

I seem to remember reading that the Spyder RS steering rack was set up to be quicker as an accompaniment to the more relaxed suspension setup, which allows for it without making the car jittery; if on GT4 RS, the car would behave nervously. With that being said, the steering rack is not particularly quick in my opinion; I think other performance cars are more responsive.
