Spyder RS driving/ownership impressions

7000 !
- Yes, cabin is loud, especially with only the bikini top on. It amplifies the sound boxes. At the end of the day my left ear was feeling it. I think an earplug ( just in left ear ) might be necessary if you are going to push it.
- The outside exhaust noise is...loud. I thought it might be just cabin noise but nope, the peoples can hear it as well. I had a Soul OAP on my Spyder which gave it a F1 higher pitch noise. Was going to do same here but might not need it as stock volume is louder on RS. Might still do for performance down the line, but is not here for sound. Stock sound on RS is deeper than non RS Spyder
- The steering is quicker, more responsive. I believe that they went from bushings to ball joints,,? It can be felt. Zero slack
- Suspension absorbed all of the bumps in the road. Felt even smoother than my Spyder. Changes direction like a humming bird
- Car looks amazing in person. The extra vents, aero, and carbon makes the RS look so special. Aggressive but pretty. Of course Porsche people know what this is, but the general public is confused. They know a 911 when they see one. They probably know a regular Boxster as such, but this is foreign to them. Its neither of these. They just know it looks sick and sounds awesome. Lots of thumbs up this weekend.

i have about 225 miles now, its not a lot, but its rained 75% of days ive had the car.
the roof is terrific. it is quick to go on, its very light. the bimini mode is a new experience you cant get in another car (well the 987). the car is louder than the gt4rs with the top up. it is hilarious people dont like the roof because its one of the better parts of the car
i like this car a lot and rank it above any regular 911, the gt3 and gt4rs and on par with the dakar. i havent driven a sport classic or s/t yet, but i cant imagine i'd rathe the srs over either. as an only car, i like the 911 better because 911s are better than 718s (sorry not sorry, its true) and have more range for track or mountain roads. i am not sure how i feel compared to the speedster, it isnt fresh enough in the mind, but the speedster is really great. this car is fun at 30-50mph - really fun - which most manual 911 are not.
i would take the srs 100/100 times over the 4rs. you have the same 718 compromises, but the added benefit of being a roadster.

Public service announcement: The top piece of the car's 2-piece top is called a Bimini top, just like the sunshades used on boats and named after the islands in the Bahamas, not a bikini top.

With all this being said, the Spyder RS is surely in superior form with a bikini top off!

~620 mile report: I can’t stop finding excuses to drive it. What a truly spectacular, special, exciting, unique, (many more adjectives) car. I’ve taken a few friends now for rides and the conclusion is they all said this one is a keeper. It’s too much fun.
