I’ll add a few more thoughts for those with the car on order, considering the car or finalizing a spec

Car on order. Just stop here, it is great and you will love it. Try not to read reviews, even mine. Delete tyd, lol

Considering the car. My spyder rs only has 97 miles- weather hasbeen awful- but it’s just perfect. It’s got all the fizz from the 4rs with a far better ride. It’s got the power that doesn’t make you miss the gt3 when you’re in it (unlike a regular spyder). The top drops, which elevates the experience. It looks fantastic with the aggressive carbon fiber hood, ducktail and speedster design concept wheels; mine is a non-wp pccb spec in black over satin aluminum and it’s just as pretty as my green over tan gt3. It is fun just tooling around at sane speeds playing with the pdk. Even if speeds are low and sane, this car has a lot of aggression in it. It’s very nimble and responsive despite the softer suspension tune and the steering feels great. The 4rs felt more inert to me, not the spyder… that could be in my head or it could be the lower weight and smooth suspension, but another driver also shared that unprompted. There is a big advantage to shorter geared pdk in playing intake sounds under 50mph vs manual with long gears requiring you to touch 8k or 9k to have fun. I do not think the car would be more fun as a manual because then it would be compared to a speedster and it probably would not compare well to the more technically competent car. Road biased sports cars are about fun. The spyder rs is tons of fun.

Considering spec. My central tendency is to overdo the build, but I switched it up here and I am thrilled with how it turned out. I didn’t get wp and I don’t care. I ordered black, leather dash with arctic stitch, black pccb, led, auto dimming mirror, satin aluminum wheels (omg, killer) and silver Porsche on rear. The car is stunning even in a basic, classic configuration.

Hope this helps

Great write-up, I can sense the excitement!

I loved my 718 PDK Spyder, except missed my 987 Spyder Sunshade and felt the 718 could’ve just had a little more of something…

Think this’ll blow my mind.

Yes, I have been limiting it to just 4K. This is what the salesman recommended. I did think I heard the 7K limit though before. Im going to research. If it turns out to be 7K limit....SWEET! You will be my new best friend for unlocking the extra performance. Those extra 3K should e a whole other world. Getting the car back Friday from PPF, tint, and ceramic. Weekend will e driving. Will have much more feedback then.

Hope you 7k-RPMers aren’t against ear plugs. I assure you, you’ll need them. The loudness is not describable with words. If a slide trombone were playing right up against your ear, it’d be quieter.

My baby SRS is on the way to the German Port..I hope to get it in the last weeks of June, I cannot wait to compare the experience against my manual 992 GT3

Having owned a 991.2 GT3 Touring, I have concluded that the pdk allows the driver to extract the full potential and experience from this engine. The gear ratios in this Spyder RS are so wonderfully short, and the shifting action is maniacal. Near-instantaneous multiple downshifts can bring your heartbeat to 100 beats/min as your brain reacts to the startling nature of this exhilaration, which may or may not be a good thing!

For added fun, I recommended magnetic shift paddles from JQ Werks. Consider buying from Urotuning, ask for Joe in sales, and mention the name Dave and Spyder RS.

Regarding the bolded, seriously? I couldn't care less about the Speedster, if you gave me one, I would sell it.

A manual would be epic in the Spyder RS!

My comment was about 'not' comparing the SRS to a Speedster... I have no desire to own a Speedster.

When I got my GT3 RS I bought a box of hundreds of ear plugs just to stock my glove box, for anyone who wants them (me included), not necessary in the GT3 due to its piddling 8800RPM rev limit, but I think I'll use them in the Spyder!

I assume this is from the US/North America manual? I'm curious if the break-in recommendation is different in other countries. I remember that being the case for my Spyder.

I’m curious what the superior technical competence is in the speedster.
