Spyder RS driving/ownership impressions

My 718 Spyder is the first car I've bought in decades that doesn't have a clutch pedal. I find it amusing that I've stalled it at least twice that I can remember. Probably 3 or 4 times. The worst part is that if I stalled one of my earlier Porsches, when you put the clutch in it would automatically fire the motor back up and you'd be good to go. With the PDK, you have to put it in park and then turn it off and restart it from scratch. It's ludicrous that it doesn't just fire itself up when you hold and then release the brake. Every time I've stalled it, it was because it was about to turn itself off with auto-start-stop when I decided to go so I started to get on the gas just as the revs were dropping and it started engaging it's clutch and didn't have enough power and just died. I'm now in the habit of pressing the button to turn that feature off every time I drive.

A PDK car should not be stalling, regardless of how the driver drives it. If it's stalling, something is wrong with the car.

If you are reading this waiting for your Spyder RS to come in, I have bad news. You will probably be stuck with it for a while. I am 100 miles in and already loving every second of ownership! If anyone has any questions or anything, or would like to read a full explanation of my first impressions I can attempt to put into words.
Started this thread to get impressions, so please tell us as much as you’d like.

I bet that can cause it, just as it does on mine. It's not that it "can't be stopped". It's that if you catch it off guard, it simply doesn't have the power (revs too low) to get the car going... but tries anyway. It's exactly as if you try to start with a manual without giving it any gas first.

In 17,000 miles my PDK Spyder never stalled. I always deselected auto start stop.
Regardless no auto start stop on RS models so we’re GTG!

I’ve had an older Spyder and 718 GT4. Both manuals and they felt a little underpowered with the longer gear ratios. I did like the smaller size though so I think the Spyder RS with the GT3 will be a lot of fun.

My quick review. A smooth/supple riding open topped gt4rs that is plenty of fun dinking around town at moderate speed and can really rip when you want it to. Keep it simple with leather, PCCB, lift and LED's and its cheaper than a Targa GTS optioned only with PCCB; I find that very good value for the rare combo of motorsport bits and road-biased suspension tuning. It's a winner.
