Activation of Nav on PCM is easy now.

so you need some help with coding in PIWIS.
mainly you will need the fitting OBD adapter. PIEIS can be run over internet with the fitting USB driver 😉.

@718socal have you already looked into that?
More info please...

It does appear to me as a bit easier than your earlier procedure, is this correct?
Sorry for the confusion. I added some additional info. 👍

Interesting. Let me look into that. I don't know the minimum requirements to run this over VPN or Internet. 👍

@Westcoast
@718socal
There are many solutions available:
https://www.fabulatech.com/
https://www.flexihub.com/

Not cheap, but one can "find" versions.

There is not much bandwidth used on CAN. Normally this works fine.

I went back and looked at your DIY, it us a little easier for me to understand the procedure, and if I had better computer skills I would try this myself, but the image warning of ruining the PCM was enough to scare me off.. I do think someone locally versed in coding would have no trouble doing it, I've just got to find him.

in other words, lawyer stuff. I still would feel more comfortable with someone who knows what they're doing to tackle this, when something comes up not covered in the instructions (and there always is SOMETHING!)they would know what to do.

Is there some affordable PIWIS tool like VAGCOM/RossTech for these or did you buy the $$$ one?

PIWIS seems to be used most by people + clone VAS OBD interface.

Nothing as affordable as VCDS or OBDeleven. X431 seems to be the least expensive choice that has (at least some) access to the adaptations.

Well, PIWIS can be "found" and OBD clone is about 60$.

I am NOT computer or tech-smart at all and I tackled this today and it worked perfectly. The only "problem" is how finicky the PCM is to get into the Dev and GEM menus, but once you get the feel for it it's not a problem.

Great to hear it worked out!

By the sounds of it you didn't use the latest method?
