I'm chime in and reply. This is my first new Pcar as well, but I have many friends in the PCA club, two of which have cars sitting at port since April due to the Stop Sale order and one with a 2021 GT4 in hand, plus several others who are more experienced than I about this process. So my gathered intel says:
- All car salesman suck. If yours does not, cherish them. They are non-communicative regardless of price. And to me, that makes them all stupid. I'm in sales. I know what it takes to keep a customer happy and these people don't have it! It would NOT TAKE MUCH at all to reply to emails. Do it at night or on your days off so you are not interfering with your sales work while at work. The word of mouth among car people is strong! Get in good with them, and you'll sell more than you would have imagined. Sorry, rant off and soap-box dismount...
- Allocations, timing, dates, it all varies. Your dealer may have had a date/slot that is sooner than mine. So even if I got on my wait list before you, your V250 may be sooner than mine.
- If you are "fixed" then you are V250. Get a screen shot of all your dates. My SA took a picture with his cell phone and emailed it to me (after much prodding). I guess he doesn't know how to do a print-screen on the computer. I'm ok with it; I got the info.
- Love your wife, I do! She convinced you to not only buy a dream car, but to buy the top banana! She's a keeper.
- Sit back and relax now. Check in with your SA periodically. The squeaky wheels do get greased!
- Start reading all the threads on what you absolutely "must have" when your new car arrives.
- Don't cheap out on the PPF. It's worth every penny.

Also, pester your SA to give you a screen shot like shown above.
Wait, knit, drink, exercise, walk the dog, play the guitar etc... the time I found really started to fly by once I hit V260 - Vehicle has entered the body shop. Strap yourself in!

Last year my 2021 exited production on 16 Sept and was in Houston on 16 Oct.
The retail sale date was 4 Dec.
EPA cert happened mid Nov and cars were immediately released for sale…well except CARB states.
Mine sat in port little over a month.
PSVMS dates usually update on Friday, if it’s a retail sale date all cars will have the same V code retail date.

i’ve been meaning to reply to this… i had a rocky start with a prior salesman during my ordering process, but after corrections i have to say that my experience with my current salesman has been excellent. he has been a fantastic communicator. i like his style and the sales manager has also been well below par… honest & easygoing. as a fort worth native i’m not a big dallas fan lol, but dallas’ park place porsche has done a fantastic job thus far. if you’re looking for a great sales associate, pm me and i’ll be glad to hook you up.

Also a nice build. Congrats on your lock. My SA confirmed today that mine locked on the 23rd and will go into production on August 30th.

I believe the car is held at the port waiting for EPA/CARB certification. If that’s the case they probably can’t do detailing. I think some PPF is done at the port but mainly on 992s which have PPF as a manufacturer option that’s not available on 982s. Can’t hurt to ask.

Two friends got delivery of a GT4 and a Spyder last week. They were 2021 models arriving two weeks ago in Jax and arriving to dealer inventory inside a week. My wife’s 2022 Spyder arrives in Jax next Tuesday, August 2 on the Bishu Hwy but is being held until Oct 1. My SA says all 4.0 liters are held for a missing part. Anyone have more detail or hearing the same story?

Could be missing TPMS sensors due to chip shortages. They are building the cars without them and then holding at port since they cannot sell the cars w/o the TPMS in the USA. Hopefully it won't take that long to get.

You'll find that every early MY has the same V dealer inventory date -- that's release for sale. Many are reporting same date of 1 Oct despite varying port arrivals.
Hope they're not held on EPA paperwork like the 992s last year...
Good luck.

Is anyone else having their delivery dates being pushed back ? I ordered in April 2021, told Q4 build (no build allocation yet). Now told Q1 2022 build for May 2022 delivery. Usual blame game of semi-conductor shortage and conrod issue from dealer. I also curious if dealers can push new orders above you spot in the que.
