I feel like the stock setup produces the hottest (temperature-wise) car I've ever had with the Spyder - the thing just radiates heat, even more so than my previous 981s (which also seemed to run hotter than my previous BMWs).

So if I swap out the OAPs, and I am sure that I will, I think the coating or heat shielding is a must have, just thinking about it logically.

Agreed, I did go from a 987.1 S to a 718 4.0, but I definitely don't remember my 987.1 ever having this much heat coming from it. I suppose a larger engine and lots of extra metal and shielding certainly makes some heat, plus the extra revs and such... But boy is it glorious at full tilt.

Without the OE filter in place, the aftermarket OAP''s run cooler than the stock OAP w the filter

Right, I had only a rear muffler, and when I parked the car to put the roof up in the garage, you felt the heat much more than a 981 GT4. After getting rid of the OPF, normal heat-like the 981 GT4.

Makes sense. The OPF is like a massive heat retainer!!

That sounds logical and I will remind myself to use a laser thermometer to check the temp on the stock GPF after a long drive when I get my car (hopefully next week)

That would be awesome. Would be nice to see the temp differences since everyone is always worried bout shielding and coatings. Could help w some data to see whats going on

Kline does offer an optional heat shield for their OAP now like the OE and Akrapovic however we have not ordered it w the shield yet and we have sold well over 120 of these now w no issues to speak of

We also offer custom Jet Hott coating as an option as well now. Havent done it but couple customers asked and we can offer if needed/wanted

Not suggesting there's a problem or anything like that - would really be more of a peace of mind type of thing for me.

Optional Kline Heat Shielding. +$600 for OAP if desired

Note: Heat shieldin affects sound as there is a metal barrier on top of the exhaust pipe, which may can cause less sound output. Kline says there is larger change on the Inconel systems sound.
