Has anybody heard the inconel side by side with SS? Is there that much of a difference in sound?

This has been debated, asked for, searched for... What I learned is that there is no good source to compare the two back to back.
SS sound is said to be deeper. Inconel is said to produce a higher pitch.
Vendors will tell you the "improvement in sound" with the Inconel matches the difference in cost - or in other words - the improvement is worth the price increase if you can afford it.
SS owners will say you are not missing out on anything by choosing SS as it sounds amazing (it does BTW and it was a SS system that sold me on buying a Kline - even though I did opt for Inconel)
Is there any comparison video out there between the two - back to back? NO.

I do hope to meet up with a local SS owner this summer to compare the two a bit...

Inconel better in terms of weight and 'maybe' sound. I went SS as wasn't worth the cost to go inconel for me just for weight savings on a GTS. The SS sounds great and I have driven in an inconel GT4, but couldn't say there was a difference. If you have the $, go inconel.... either way you won't be disappointed.

I do not think there has ever been a robust comparison in a side-by-side video/audio clip . That said, keep in mind:

-Vendors who state the inconel sounds better have a monetary incentive to do so (not throwing jabs, just stating facts);
-(subjective) There are plenty of youtube clips of both inconel and SS, the differences in sound/tone are well within the realm of being chalked up to different recording hardware.

I suggest you take a listen yourself on youtube and then make up your decision. I personally came to the conclusion after watching various different clips that if sound is your only reason for the purchase (i.e. you do not care about the tangible benefits inconel provides (weight, durability, etc.)), the SS is probably the better buy. But, who knows...I may be proven wrong if there's ever a good comparison video.

I can’t answer your question but I can say that I went with SS and have had installed for 2 months now and have been completely satisfied. It sounds fantastic and not obnoxious with just a really clean Porsche-like sound; the way they should sound. Instead of a valve controller, I am using collars with the valves halfway open in “quiet mode”. I had seriously considered the Inconel but felt it would be overkill for what I was trying to achieve. I am finding even with the SS version, it generates a lot of excitement from passers by and other car enthusiasts and most importantly, I love the sound. I can’t say whether or not Inconel is that much better but I can say either way you go you’d be happy and the SS is fantastic choice.

Yes. Two 718 Spyders, both with Cargraphic valve controller. I have SS, my friend has Inconel. I like mine better, he likes his better but they are so close and both sound amazing. Honestly, I'm not sure I could tell them apart with better than 50/50 accuracy.

Went to the track for the first time since installing my Kline inconel setup. I just couldn't get over how great the car sounded echoing against the barriers. I loved it on the street but it sounded like nothing else on track!

Completely thrilled with this setup.

Up top it is very loud! I know the sound you speak of, and it adds to the excitement for sure.

Forgot about that. We probably should do a public service video.

Bought the kline SS (no headers) system from Le Petit Garage and just installed in a 718 Spyder. It replaced OAP's w/ open valves and it sounds wonderful. Much more exotic than just the OAP's and less obnoxious at lower RPM's where the OAP's could sound boomy, especially with the valves open. Alex at Le Petit Garage was great to deal with and offered the best prices I could find. All in all a great addition to the car.
