I got the Inconel OAP+backbox+controller installed and felt that when I had the controller set to OEM PSE mode, the valves being closed caused a very boomy/bassy sound from 0-4k and especially peaky from 2k-2.8k rpm. I noted that the boomy/bassy noise would go away when valves were opened via controller. So, the hypothesis (and supported by others here) was that I needed to open the valves a bit during OEM operation to reduce the noise.
I installed the collar mod at the lowest/most conservative position, and it has basically entirely fixed the boomy/bassiness and now I am totally satisfied with the exhaust. Awesome stuff!
Perfect... time to order collars. Now I need to hunt down which post showed "most conservative position"...

Has anyone done any PM for the potential rusting/sticking of the flap actuator rods, for those like me who have them basically 95% open. I was thinking about spraying some DW-40 on the shafts, or putting a little lithium grease at the top. Any thoughts?
I was actually looking at the valves on the Kline - do they seem less "spring loaded" vs the OEM ones? When I actuate them by hand they do not spring back to full open as forcefully as the OEM system.
...and have you all been simply pushing the vaccum lines onto the Kline valves as is with oem clamps? Or have you cut off the oem clamps and put new hose clamps? I just pushed the lines on with oem clamps. The felt just as tight as they were on the oem valves.

If you play with the piston and move it in/out of the exhaust you'll understand. On the Kline is the position lowest to the ground, so most of the piston can make it up into the tube before the collar contacts.

I adjusted mine to this position this afternoon. I believe that even in the most conservative position the valves are closing to about 50%. (At least for me with the collars I'm using which make contact with the hinge preventing them from being set any lower). I was looking for 50% closure so I'm happy with that.
I’ve had mine there Mr. Frunk for a few months now. I like it, and enjoy the car with PSE off and on, sometimes I like it better with PSE off as the build up the rpm range sounds more natural.
