Cargraphic valve control unit

So you bolt down the metal cover to the metal body and the wires can still slide? As I said, I haven't done my install yet and assumed the engine cover was a no-gap snug fit.

I had considered installing a weather-proof grommet for the wires to go through but because they would have exited at 90 degrees to the carpeted surface (not acceptable) and the cover gasket afforded easy safe egress I went with this route.

Added benefit to putting the unit in the trunk is that if it comes loose for whatever reason it's not banging around in the engine bay.
Plus in that event it's easy access to the unit under the carpet vs opening up the engine cover to get to it.
There is no good reason to leave it next to the engine. I'm surprised that's what Cargraphic suggests to do?

One practical improvement would be a wiring harness so that if the unit needs to be replaced you could just unplug it from the harness rather than the whole painful installation exercise. Wander if they would do this?

Added many piggyback type devices in engine area over the years with zero issues. Can easily find a 1.5mm steel bracket at hardware store to suit or simply quality 3M DST. In my opinion, a neater install. Respect each to their own though

No need to wonder, this ability already exists... although it isn't a simple 'unplugging' it can be done.

My dealer bolted this into the engine bay no wires coming out.

Pardon me for not reading all 200+ posts to find this answer, but does anyone know for certain these two things:
1) When the Cargraphic Valve Control Unit 3-Modes is set for the days use, does it remain in that setting, on the next engine start up, or does it default back to the stock setting?
2) Can the included remote be programed to my (3) button garage remote near the rear visor, so I don't have to use the remote each time I make a change?
