Agree about the roll bars, will be ordering mine in black gloss to tie it all in...

Interesting this guy selling one of the few 718 GT4 in the US because of the lack of sound..

2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4

The good news is it drives and feels the same as the 981 gt4. The bad news is the sound is gone. Now keep in mind, all driving so far has been under 5k rpm, so we dont know yet how this 4 liter really sounds. I decided to sell based on the sound and limited availability right now
It does seem the 718 NA6 seems muted quite a bit compared to previous gen NA6 motors.

OPF filters spoil the sound

If you look at his sales history (https://bringatrailer.com/member/jvmax/), he's sold a number of low mileage cars. If it was just the sound, there are aftermarket exhausts that would fix that problem.

the Master Tech who works on my car says the new GT4 is one of the best sounding cars Porsche has ever made

haven't driven one so don't really know, but he usually speaks his mind (not just what Porsche would want him to say)

I do know that the sound on my GT4 is pretty darn awesome! no mods on the exhaust and it sounds just fine with me, to each, their own

Driving video from the GT4 BaT auction. Granted he’s softpedalling it due to break-in but it does sound underwhelming for a GT car and that’s with a mod he made to keep the valves permanently open. Says it’s even quieter than that under 4k rpm with the valves closed:

Not sure that aftermarket solutions can get rid of the filtering without affecting backpressure, causing a CEL, or voiding warranty. Hope they can. Any news on that front, maybe from Europe?

Putting muffler bypass pipes on my 6gt3 and Miltek mufflers on my Boxster has definitely spoiled me for sound. Wish I could hear IRL or drive the new 718 4.0 before ordering.

Damian agrees the 718 NA6 does not sound that great (skip in to the four minute mark)..

These videos make me very happy I purchased a 981 GT4 earlier this month!

Do they put OPF filters for both the EU cars and for cars made for USA?

No filters for USA but the filter chamber is still there and made to equally obstruct sound/flow for equal back-pressure so as to look indistinguishable from a filter to the car’s brain. Not sure where I read this.

Probably the same place I read it...somewhere on Rennlist.

God bless,

For those of you looking at a GTS, which seats are you thinking of going with, as a car that will see track use only a handful of times a year? I love the buckets in my Spyder with respect to comfort. I actually find them to be more comfortable for long trips, but getting in/out is definitely more of a chore than the 2-ways sports seats plus in my old car, and I wonder if I wouldn't be more likely to take the car out for smaller errands with the 2-ways.
