I mean what track times and where with what are you throwing down to say you can’t be using LWB on the track ![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)
im sure Randy pobst would tell you they’re just fine for track days, I doubt anyone in here “needs” more than LWB

All choices come with compromise. LWB are not the end all in terms of lateral support, particularly without a harness. And with a harness, they come with certain disadvantages from a safety perspective like the lack of halo head support. So for track, whether just HPDE or competition, an actual race seat is better.
But then a race seat is basically unusable on the street and probably more dangerous than LWB for multiple reasons.
So at the end of the day, you have to choose the compromise that suits you best. Especially since most people do not have a non-street legal track car and a separate road car.

LWB are ill-suited for any type of serious track work.
LWB work best as a cool looking seat for the street, and for the occasional (read: 2-3 times a year) light track duty. But even then, unless you are shaped like Jar Jar Binks, wearing a HANS device with the Porsche LWB is a near anatomical torture exercise. Of course, you could avoid the whole issue if you dispensed with a harness and just used seat belts without HANS, but most tracks (and instructors) require at least a 3 or 4 point harness. And, no, you should never have just a harness wihtout HANS.
So, yes, the LWB are a compromise, but they are IMO the best compromise for street use.

And for the record, I'm not ****ting on LWBs. They work far better on track than sofas for many. My car actually has the GT2 bucket in it (a little tighter than 918 bucket and sits a touch higher) and this is acceptable for my < 10 track days / dual use car. I don't understand why you would spec a GT4 RS without buckets. But I also understand why more hardcore track folks don't care for them.

So many strident opinions.
I tracked for years in 18-ways, which where a rare upgrade on the 7.2 RS. I had no real complaints at 6'3" and 210lbs with a harness and Simpson Hybrid HANS.
Now I have buckets, and they're beautiful, and they hold me well, and I am just fine with my HANS, though I worry that it's abrading the seat a little. I'm too old to get out of them gracefully.
It's all pretty damn good. Any issues I have with any of these seats are extreme "first world problems".

The factor Sabelt seats in my ACR Vipers are honestly the sweet spot for me, but even in those I had to put a 2" seat lowering kit due to my torso length. They're solid, sturdy, secure, yet significantly more comfortable than the Porsche LWB.
The bolsters in current factory M cars though are pretty intense aswell and for a factory comfort option pretty damn good with 27 points of adjustment including bolstering.

This is pretty much my take(not speaking on safety equipment and such). I can sympathize with the Bose label impressions on the knee, but the 18ways for a cruiser which the 4RS is are the perfect seat for me. I'm 6'5" 235lbs and not the typical build as many seem to have hear. LWB cause an uncomfortable experience that I wouldn't want.
