Does anyone currently have a 4RS build that starts after July? My build starts 06/11 (as per TYD) and I was told this is the last allocation for 24.

Think your dealer got the better end of that deal.

I’ve owned 5 GT3s in the past and 2 GT4s. I personally find the GT4 platform cars more fun to drive. I purchased the GT4 RS for the Smokies. It is definitely a lot more fun in that environment.

^ This!

My Touring is a better car, the GT4 RS is more fun. No question about that.

Sort of in the same boat. I sold my 981 GT4 to buy 991.2 RS. It was hard to admit to myself at first, but I enjoyed the GT4 more. While the engine on the RS was awesome, it just felt too big on the backroads and way too stable/grippy. Hoping the GT4 RS will be best of both worlds, GT4 size/characteristics with the RS power.

For me, it depends on the circumstances and each persons driving preferences. I recently drove my GT3 Touring and my GT4 RS back to back on two different tracks days on two different tracks. One track was 2.7miles with 12 turns and the other was a short 1.3miles with 6 turns. In my hands, the GT3 was faster on the longer track while the 4RS was faster on the shorter track. The drive to each was a 200 mile round trip. Which did I enjoy the most? The GT3! IMHO, it's the better car for the track and the drive to the track.

I've really enjoyed the last few posts and comparisons--really helpful. My GT4RS should arrive in 2 weeks, but I was just given the opportunity to move to a GT3 Touring (used, but under 3k miles) and get out of the GT4RS before delivery. I always fancied a Touring and the color (Lava Orange) is a plus (for me at least). I wasn't able to get PTS on my 4RS build (went with Arctic and Indigo wheels). The car will see little to no track use--so am thinking the GT3T may be more a keeper for versatility, etc.

Sleepless nights ahead...

The Touring seems to check the boxes for many, while the 4RS is very and I mean very niche.

The 4RS benefit is its compact dimension and/or being lighter compared to the 992GT cars. This is quite noticeable when driving especially with the feeling of the car rotating round about where the driver is sitting. On GT3/RS you feel it rotating behind you which makes sense considering the differences in engine layout etc. The longer wheelbase of the 4RS compared to the GT3 also helps in this regard. They are very different cars to drive on track in my experience. Try to drive a 4RS flat out on track in the same style as you would a 992GT3 and it falls apart in comparison.
You need to trail brake the GT3 to get it to turn in as you would wish( less in the 992 vs 991) but in complete contrast in the 4RS you get the braking done in a straight line and steer on the throttle otherwise you unload the back wheels too much.
I found that when I first drove my old 718GT4 on track I tended to over brake until the apex as I was so used to my 991.2RS which I learnt to drive on track in. This resulted in me over driving the GT4 and not really going as fast as I should have been. Same on exit when getting on the power. In my 4RS I think I've started to adapt my driving accordingly and getting faster by not driving it like a GT3.
There is also quite a difference between driving one 4RS with Mags and PCCBs/STs to another fitted with and standard alloys and Steel brakes. A total of 30KG less both unsprung and rotating weight makes a real difference in my view.
The 4RS and GT3/RS are different enought in the way they drive that a lot of it comes down to what platform you're used to, and equally personal preference. Not so much about which is better just different .
All in my extremely humble opinion of course.

No doubt the front end on the 992 GT3 is vastly superior to the setup in the GT4RS, I do wonder what the difference / similarities are between the 4RS and the 991 GT3's though.

Front end will have similar characteristics as 991 GT3s - it's the same architecture... but with fully solid mounts so really 3RS.... only issue is that 718RS isn't running as much tyre/wheel width as the 991 GT.
But as has been said you need to consider the whole platform F & R.

The front end of the 4RS would be dramatically improved with wider tyres say 255s.

I dunno, if it was that easy to improve one or both ends of a sports car, manufacturers would just design and provide them with wider tires.
