Nice to see some other people besides myself like to put high miles on their rare and special sportscar. It is to be enjoyed not just kept clean, treated like an investment, and brought to C&C

Just to put things in perspective, it's perfectly sensible and fun to have a manual with a high revving NA motor. I love it with my 9,000 rpm GT3's on road and track and here is a guy shifting at 12,100 rpm in a 3-pedal car to show what's possible ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Murray wanted it to be the ultimate analog car. I suspect he would agree a proper double clutch would be quicker in every way.
It does sound pretty damn cool...

It looked like he was pushing it a bit harder in the 4RS. No matter what, they are both very capable cars.

It loos like he was driving in the recent Porsche GT Masters Program at Spa Francorchamps - highly unlikely he walked in off the street to have a go
(and as a requirement of that programme he would have had to meet certain Porsche minimum track driving standards).
As the saying goes a good workman never blames the tools.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Irrespective it shows the 4RS is a highly capable tool in the hands of a club level type driver.

I had written this in the "GT4 RS reviews" thread as I haven't realized this was already posted here.
I have asked the person who posted at youtube some questions and here are his answers:
- Aero: standard setup for both cars (as GT4 RS HDF setup has similar downforce as the GT3 LDF setup, in a fast track not requiring so much downforce, GT4 RS should have advantage in top speed)
- Both cars had 500kms on the clock; so both new and probably tyres in similar shape
- He did have 2 days seat time with GT4 RS but only 20 mins with GT3, so there room to catch up GT4 RS time. I think if he has 2 days seat time with GT3, probably both cars would have lapped same time and no 2 secs advantage for GT4 RS.
What was interesting is that GT4RS is 2 secs faster despite driven with full tank, whereas GT3 has slightly more than half a tank if I am not mistaken. If these cars have both 90 liters tank, which I am not sure, but I dont think anyone will get a 54 liter tank on a GT4 RS except Porsche itself probably. So there might be around 30-40 liters more gas in GT4 RS, which might be 22,5-30 kilos more (45 to 60 pounds more) as a liter would be around 0.75kgs.If both has 90 liter tank, GT4 RS might even has a weight disadvantage - negligible but still impressive results.
I received an invite to test GT4 RS in PEC Hockenheim and another car of my choice, I will try to get GT3 as the second car to have some experience.

If one only put away the bias that the 911 is the top dog and 'should' be faster.......
911, with the rear engine layout, takes time to get used to, and is rewarding once one get the hang of it. Doesn't means it's the best layout for going fast, but it is what most Porsche owners are used to.
The Cayman/Boxster had always been the 2nd class citizen in the line up, handicapped engine output, handicapped gearbox, etc. It was never given a fair fight.
The GT4RS is the closest thing to a 'fair fight' against a 911. Same engine as a GT3, with a bespoke gearbox. Tire sizes are still a compromise but at least it's close enough for people to compare mid engine vs rear engine sort of fairly.
Having driven almost every single model Porsche made, which includes all generations of 911s, all generations of Cayman/Boxster, same with Macans, Cayennes, Panamera, Taycan, 924, 944, 968, 928, CGT and 918. Only road cars I haven't is the GT1, 959, 356s, 550 Spyder and the 914 ( never will, completely not interested in the ugliest Porsche ever and it's not even a proper Porsche, but that's another long topic for some other time). I really think the GT4RS is the best from Porsche up to this point in time, yes, even better than the 992 GT3, just because of the mid engine layout and much much better gearing. 992 GT3 is just simply over rated and the GT4RS under rated.
If I were to only be able to keep 3 Porsches ever. #1 would be the 918, there will never be another more complex car made, technology tour de force. A 911 turbo S, any generation, as they are the pinnacle of all around sports car of their respective generations, and the 3rd car might as well be the GT4RS, alternative would be a 959, or a GT1. That's how highly I think of the GT4RS.
