Thanks for all of this. I'm chairing our club race this weekend so I'm swamped, but I will study this next week and revert to you with the expected queries.

I also think you'd get pretty fed up of driving a LHD car on a RHD road too as it would be awkward doing over taking and at toll booths etc

I would in fairness sell your car over there and buy over here or buy a car in the UK (Where the market is much better and the price is cheaper- plus a car in the UK would be spot on for Ireland without any changes to be made. Yes you would have to pay vrt but... you'd have to do that + shipping + mods.

Here's a good site for buying cars in Ireland
    http://www.carzone.ie/

Here's one for the UK (You'll see the market is much bigger there and cheaper too)
    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/

Go get a belfast postcode for anything in the north which is just a short spin across the border and saves a boat ride. Use my old place's post code in mainland uk to get you going it's LU1 1UE
A hell of a lot of drivers are going to the UK these days for cars I really think it's your best bet. Drop me mail on dicreamio@hotmail.com if you've any more queries.

    Cheers
    Michael

Porsche club Ireland are very active over here and they have lots going on, membership also gives you a 10% parts discount too which has helped me a heap.
