I think we'll have a lot of 'could be' or 'maybe' when it comes to what they have done for the 781 RS engine, November can't get here soon enough.

As I understand it, the most significant barrier to rating these motors to more than 8k is the ECU. With a new/different ECU and a few Lego pieces from the parts bin, it seems pretty easy for Porsche to assemble a higher revving motor. Whether or not it is a "GT3" engine is immaterial to me...

I didn't read all of this very long thread. Was the GT4 RS lap time using the Cup 2 R cheater tire?

FWIW, the Cheater Tire is worth 12 seconds a lap vs a Cup 2/equivalanet (per Manthey and guys at Apex). Can add that time to any of the cars (2RS, .2 3 RS, 992 GT3) to get more of an apples to apples picture vs cars just tested on regular Cup 2/equivalents.

People don't wanna hear about "cheater" tyres, they only wanna hear good news (how it was achieved, it doesn't matter). ![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)
Now that "reviews" of STO are appearing, nobody talks about the failed attempts at setting a ring time with all sorts of shenanigans. It's all "in the moment".

The cheater Cup 2 R tires costs $3k a set and provides its Hoosier R7 level of grip for only a couple days, so it's not a usable tire for the real world, just something to post these lap times on what it is claimed to be a 'street' tire.
I can believe 12 secs should be added to 'ring lap time to get a Cup 2 time, so about 7:21 for the GT4RS sounds about right, which should be faster than the 991.1 GT3, not as fast the 991.2 GT3, and certainly not as fast as the 992 GT3.

Also funny how Porsche also responded to press inquiries and said they will not be setting another n-ring lap time attempt

Oh I see now, you were listing off GT3 engine details, I first read them and thought, I don't remember that as part of the 9A2 Evo engine... OK a little speculation of what could be.

That's about the right rank order, in addition to the observations there might be 4-5 secs more left on the GT4 RS (per Apex analysis) the fact that the GT4RS is around the same time as the 991.1 RS, 991.1 GT3 and very close to the 991.2 GT3 is a pretty big win. On your average track length in the US, all these cars are going to be very very close. IMO, I don't believe that's worth such a high ADM however.
Also funny how Porsche also responded to press inquiries and said they will not be setting another n-ring lap time attempt![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

My rule of thumb is that, to translate ring times to US tracks, 5 secs on the ring is a noticeable difference, 10 secs on the ring is about the same as going from regular Cup 2 to Hoosiers, which is a pretty big difference, but not necessarily worth spending lots of money on upgrading the car to get that difference.
I would only consider buying the gt4rs if it was reasonably priced compared to the other gr cars, and would never pay ADM for it.
