My car has Holinger gears and a Drexler diff.
The diff is more important to me than the gears, IMO. Changed the behavior of the cars handling significantly.
Work was done by Bill Rader Motorsports
~12k IIRC, including shipping gearbox to BRM.

This all feels so anti-climactic now that c8 z06 has been introduced. We're hoping for little improvements here and there and GM lands the z06 with flat crank 670hp v8, massive aero, carbon wheels, removal hardtop, super Lux interiors, significantly less money.. Hypercar looks...

Makes me scratch my head and wonder why I'm so wrapped around the Porsche axle which drip-feeds us and makes us beg for more (plus ADM for some). Value means something..

Which is a harder allocation to secure?

I'm sure the first Z06s will have ADMs, but as was the case with every other generation of Corvettes, GM will find a way to produce a lot of them. The GT4 RS would be a fun car at MSRP, but seriously that is ALREADY a premium to the Z06 which just raised the bar for everyone. Nice to see some competition to take down the hubris of Porsche and their dealers.

GT4RS is going to be far harder to get, particularly at sticker. Though the demand on the Z06 far exceeds the initial supply, GM will stamp them out like skittles once the line starts up. There are also corvette dealers that always sell at sticker and haven't even opened their lists yet.

And if bang-for-buck is the goal, there are also Porsche's that will kick some serious *** without being $150K + ADM. A $50K 996 Turbo with $10K of track/tune upgrades will easily turn lap times faster than a GT4 for example...

I had a C8 for a while. Obviously not a C8 Z06 since they don't exist yet, but Z51. It really didn't do much for me, I kept it a few months and moved on... Hard to put into words what makes driving a tuned Turbo or GT3 (or hopefully a GT4RS) so enjoyable, but it is definitely more than redline, horsepower, and lap times.

Damn, it's a bugger when reality strikes... the possibility of 'almost' 500hp seems pretty minimal now.

What’s the cost to jump the line for the C8?

This is a monster!

It was always a bit of a chuckle to me. My twenty year old 996 turbo has about 540 at the crank with nothing but an exhaust and tune... Yes, I know comparing turbo to NA, yada yada, but 480+HP for me was the threshold of what a NA engined 718 really needs to have to not be a dog at 8,000'+.

NOT dissing the 4RS, amazing car... Just chuckling a bit that 500HP was a bit of a holy grail for power output in the GT4RS...

The used car market is crazy as I'm sure your aware... Nicely configured non Z06 C8's are still trading at $25K+ over sticker and finally starting to come down a bit. I would expect the very first Z06's to command $70K+ ADM, then $50K, then $30K... But where the GT4RS will likely hold a ton of value even after the shine wears off, C8 Z06's will be available new for under sticker and used for 30% depreciation within a few years of launch (but perhaps pushed out a bit longer due to continued supply chain shortages).

All just my humble opinion of course.

I am ok with that and in normal times that is a HUGE value proposition for the true enthusiasts. Unlike Porsche which makes you pay dearly and then the flippers raises the prices (on the GT cars) even more, keeping them unobtainable for most.

Case in point... I paid $47K for my 2SS 1LE in 2018, $4K under sticker and the PDK GT4 I am getting to replace is JUST a little better performance wise, but more than double the cost.

I have no issue with the way GM prices and discounts their cars, even if it means ****ty resale values, as it allows more to get into the product and enjoy the car.

When supply chains go back to normal, GM will churn them out and I don't mind that. I don't care about exclusively, I care about driving and enjoying how a special car FEELS.

Yes. I also think it's because Porsche has a strong cult following over pretty much every generation of 911. Which spills over to the Cayman GT product because that platform has proven itself. So people love to have the pinnacle from such a storied brand whether it's GT3/RS/4/4RS. Now I am sure Corvette has a strong following as well, but I would question whether it's as strong as Porsche's worldwide appeal.

I am really curious to see the price point of the C8 Z06 with track options. A stingray optioned out here is about $90K CDN.

It is a seriously strong value proposition specification wise. Hopefully there are no issues with track durability as with the C7 Z06, I think they would've learned though.

I have had a deposit since last year, thinking hard about actually moving ahead. Maybe the first MY is one to skip with Chevy product.
