I’ve been fighting some serious porpoising at times in my GT4. Had been thinking it was due to damper settings. Could this be some of what y’all are talking about?

Ahhh, we have gone from the new 4RS *absolutely* having 500 HP, to *no way* having 500 HP, to being absolutely *unobtanium*, to being a worthless POS due to it's completely flawed handling....
Hoping that evil handling means my #2 spot might result in an actual allocation...

@Archimedes Whao, whao, whao.... you spent many a post arguing exactly the opposite when I noted my displeasure at the suspension (particularly the factory alignment) and the car requiring intervention.... well, glad you at least came clean, finally. jeesh.
Nothing you bolted on your car from the JC Whitney catalog is going to change the rear suspension compliance. If only it was that simple. I’m sure what you did, including alignment, improved the already good handling. But it doesn’t solve the inherent shortcoming of the GT4 rear end.

@raymort Most here are talking about the wiggle associated with braking from high speeds, and instability when pressing on bumpy roads.
The OEM toe links have a bit too much deflection. Additionally, the amount of camber and toe we can add is limited. So many of us have gone to adjustable toe links from TPC (gets more toe and has less deflection when loaded), and some have added the DSC Controller to improve damper performance.
Add a track alignment (factory alignment is usually questionable), and your GT4 will be transformed.
There is a HUGE suspension thread about all this. Page through, it’s worth the read. I’ll add that in that thread, posts form @dnimi123 , @West Coast , @Archimedes should be given a serious read. IMHO, in this GT4 community, they add a lot.

Again I think you have reading comprehension issues. I said the car handles great right out of the box, on decent pavement, which it does. I also said from the beginning that the rear suspension was too harsh, but that the Dunlop’s offer so much grip that you can still push the car at street speeds.

These would be substantial improvements under braking and improve turn in, corner grip and speed.

All kibitzing aside... The 718 GT4/Spyder is at a very fine price point for what you get, very reliable, will keep its value pretty well, modifiable to a large degree to suite different tastes, more capable than most owners will ever know and a damn fun ride! I got a ride around the canyons recently in my car with pro driver/coach and holy cow ill NEVER be able to go that fast! This guy drives many many super cars, exotics and all manner of Porsches and he really loves the GT4 with all its quirks an nuances and would buy a Spyder above all else if he could! Track day at coming up at Willow Springs in November - very excited!

Kibitzing
- the constructive criticism is fully warranted. Porsche barely moved the bar between the 981 GT4 and 718 GT4. A top quality organisation can handle the feedback from owners and should take it on board. They need to knock the RS out of the park and the basic fixes are well known and understood.
My strong suspicion is the GT4 RS will end up having the same engine as is in place, they will add a more aggressive cam profile, allow better air flow, modify the gear ratios, add improved aero, stiffen the spring rates and offer Cup2R tires - the car will make around 450 HP but have an improved torque curve. They will run it round the ring on the Cup2R and say look its nearly as quick as the 991.2 GT3.............................I hope I'm wrong

I’ve always thought the Cayman/Boxster have been held back by the strut suspension, long gearing, and great but not exotic flat 6 in the GT4/Spyder. It’s a pity more than anything as I know Porsche could resolve all of that easily if they simply chose to.
I’m hopeful that electrifying the platform lets them use all of their skills on the next one, but I fully expect them to hold back to ensure they have a good carefully planned update cycle.

With the extra adjustments, I've started to learn advanced settings with the DSC controller to improve things more.

I understand you are an owner and see all the points you are making.... except this one.... given the few guys I've known with McLarens have had their cars spend more time in the dealer service department than their Ferrari's (which is saying something...)
One thing I've learned (vicariously through my friends who have a lot more money than I do).... stick to the Porsche formula. They can take a beating, they can be driven to 100k miles without much more than oil changes.

Just watch some videos of the GT4 RS test mule going around the Nurburgring. It doesn't sound anything like a GT3.
