I guess I just don’t share the same thoughts of what a halo model should be.
I my mind, the 4RS is supposed to be a statement product, maximizing what is possible with the 718 platform.
I would never wish that they hold back and make sure it’s not too good, otherwise too many people may want one, causing the price to be higher, demand to outstrip supply, and market forces to further raise residual values
If someone wants a less aspirational product, there are plenty to choose from…

The halo model is the GT3 and 3RS..thats not my invention/construct nor my preference but it is what is it. Porsche has and will continue to deliberately hold back the GT4/RS and make sure it's not too good...and for that reason a parity or premium to the GT3 is not justified (in my book). It's bad relative value IMO
The GT3/RS is not even the 911 halo model (that’s the GT2 RS or the Turbo S or Sport Classic or whatever comes next).
The GT4 RS is the 718 halo model (it lifts the profile and reputation of the whole line).

Was referring to normally aspirated halo product (and current production as in produced today record holder) and not sure what definition of halo that has to do with my original point other than it's not going to be something with a GT4 moniker (by definition if holding something back vs another model in same engine class/type and approximately the same size/weight ..is that a halo car)?. And for the future sorry but in normally aspirated land, the "halo" or whatever you want to call the product that is the fastest NA track car..is not gonna be the 4RS (which will be sufficiently neutered to protect what we all know they want to protect). We know that the 718 platform in the form of the GT4 RS will not be fully maximized, because if it were, it would outperform the GT3/RS.

Well...if we just go by the suspension design, which we know will be the same design as a GT4, you are already holding it back. But I do agree with you that engine wise it probably wont have parity with the GT3.
Even if the CS gets X engine doesn't mean anything....right now the 718 CS uses the previous GT4 engine which is out of production.

From the published numbers:
The .2 GT3RS weighs 3153 lbs and has 520 HP for 6.06 lb/HP
The 992 GT3 weighs 3200 lbs and has 502 HP for 6.37 lb/HP
what are the chances the GT4RS matches or is better than the 992 GT3 number?
At 485 HP it would need to drop to 3100 lbs from the GT4 weight of 3199.
Chances the 4RS has more than 485 HP?
Chances the 4RS weighs less than 3100?
My bet is 485 HP, maybe 489 and the base model is 3150 lbs (6.44) to be slightly weaker than the 992 GT3.
Then for the 4RS with the Weissach package, I predict 489 HP and 3110 lbs for a 6.35 lb/HP number - slightly better than the 992 GT3.
Thoughts??

Spyder vs. Spyder RS -
Just curious, for those considering a Spyder RS vs. a 718 Spyder, what is the draw?
Seems like the RS version is really set up for the track, and I wouldn't consider tracking a convertible with this HP/performance. Plus the Spyder RS wouldn't have the wing.
For street driving, the increased HP/suspension of a Spyder RS doesn't seem as a much needed improvement over the current 718 Spyder.
Again, just curious.

These are insignificant differences, and don't tell the story. Current Gt4 weighs 3199.. has longer wheelbase than a 911. This academic differences in power to weight are not what influence performance differences. Power published at 485/489/500/520... its all marketing. They all produce slightly more than published anyway. It's all about tires and gearing and downforce.. center of mass positioning.
That is very true...but given that 90% of people go with these numbers (power) there's a good chance any 4RS wont match any GT3/RS. Only a few here in RL go for the details that really make a car.
